    Dynamite Deka Sega Ages PS2

They don't make em like this anymore

Classic, got this this morning, played though 4 times, 1 for each mode, plus 1 I've unlocked.

It's not hugely different from the Arcade/Saturn original (the sat ver is included). A bit of a graphical update, nothing groundbreaking, but it looks nice enough, and you unlock more credits, using periscope rather than deep scan (I think it was called, it's been a while). Not sure if there are any new moves in there yet, but I wouldn't think so by the look of it.

Unfortunatly the Saturn version seems to be the hardest mode at the moment, got through deka mode without much trouble, easy mode can be finished with a couple of credits at most. Altered Beast mode looks fun, had a quick go, won't spoil it, although it isn't really anything special.

Not much in the way of extras, a gallery in the options and a few variations on the original mode, one shot kill, arrest and deadline mode, not sure what the last one is, but I put money on it being a kind of time attack.

Not really sure if I would recommend this, I'm really glad I bought it, and I still own the saturn version, but theres just not much here, if they had included Dynamite Deka 2, this would have been great. Especially as in DD2 the presidents daughter, looks more like the presidents grandmother (thank parkinho for that one ).

Edit: forgot to add, voices are in english, but the "CAUTION" reaction test thingies are in Japanese (Katakana), theres only 3 options, so it shouldn't take long to figure out, but could be a bit off putting at first if you don't read kana.

Gonna have to get this to sit alongside my Dynamite Cop 2. Officially the best game ever I'll have you know.

Dynamite Cop (Deka) 2 was probably the worst DC game I ever bought, alongside Get Bass, which was also bought on a crazy impulse. The girl you had to rescue was so unbelieveably irritating and obnoxious that I almost didnt want to finish the game (which took two hours or so) so that she never got rescued. For a brief while, hitting things with a fish was mildly entertaining though. I dont think Ive played DD1, Im kinda surprised that its resurfaced though.

Bloody hell marcus, surely you've bought worse. I wouldn't go as far as stroppa and say it's the best game ever , but I paid ?50 for Deka 2 on it's Japanese release and I was happy enough with it, of course there wasn't really much else available for the DC at the time. I'd say the first is a much better game, but I wouldn't have minded 2 being included with this.

It's a great series, I mean...it has QTE's before shenmue even had them, what more do you want?

the presidents daughter has a nose the size of the boat

DD II was poor imo, I loved the Saturn version but the Model 2 and DC versions were a massive letdown to me .

Have to say the 3D graphics inthe Saturn version were some of the best ever onthe machine and the texture mapping was stunning . Shows what the VDP II could do when used right

I love both games - You can hit people with FISH! You can attack men whilst they're URINATING! - so this is a no-brainer for me. When I get paid. Gotta get paid, cuz.

Me too. Got it from Leicester Gamestation (back when they used to sell imports). I think I paid ?54.99 for it, and it's probably the high pricepoint that encouraged me to get as much enjoyment as possible. Not a bad game IMO, some of the grapple moves were fun and the actual combat engine was pretty decent for what is basically a side-scrolling fighter.

I actually prefer DD2 to the first game.

So there's not much point in getting this if you already have the Saturn version?

What's Altered Beast mode all aboot? Use spoiler tags if you don't want to ruin it for everyone else.

It depends on how much you love the first game mate, I didn't want to sound to enthusiastic and have people buy it, only to say "well it's exactly the same, only with a different mini game, and improved graphics". I've played the game to death, and I happy with this purchase, but as it only takes 20mins to finish the game, do you really want to pay another ?16 for it?

                      Altered beast mode

Basically it's just the same but you only have 1 credit and your energy bar slowly decreases, your char looks like a funky werewolf (if you play as the dude) or a giant bird thing (play as the woman). You have to beat energy out of enemies to stay alive. Like I said it's not really anything special, but it will be difficult to finish, should keep me playing the game a little while longer.

Something I noticed on easy mode

When you first enter the parking area, theres a curtain thing that looks like it can be picked up, pick it up and the curtain surrounds you. You come out dreesed like Axe Battler from Golden Axe, with sword, that you unfortunatly can't use. I got to the scene with the large fish tank, where you normally fight the giant american football player, only this time Death Adder steps out, complete with golden axe stage 1 music

Oh man, they're awesome extras. I'll definitely pick this up if I see it for under a tenner. Thanks for the reply.

Dynamite Deka/Die Hard Arcade is the best 3D side scrolling brawler ever IMHO.
Is there a decent L.E? I have the ST-V version so wouldn't consider this worth buying, but Sega sold me yet another version of Panzer Dragoon with the promise of a music box so I'm not ruling this out

DX Pack comes with a badge, soundtrack CD (which also has the Wing War soundtrack on it),what I think is a Dynamite Deka phone strap and 5 keyrings (Altered Beast, Alien Front, Wing War, Golden Axe and Alien Storm).
