You mean other people who are playing the game? Power levelling and item world levelling probably - no need to do this unless you're trying to beat hidden bosses/levels - certainly not for playing through the story first time around ( might want to power-level for certain points in the story the second play-through as I'm sure the arc will be different in a couple of places ).

In a sense you need to do a little power levelling to unlock new classes. To unlovk the final type for each character class takes a bit of work.

Now have the American version though I have yet to start it. Yes-Asia eventually came through. Received my Strategy Guide well in advance of the release date. Impressive... A5 (or similar) sized but over 600 pages!

Anyone know of where I can get the strategy guide without forking out ?30+ for it? Ebay and amazon look really expensive on the shipping front...

On the game - I'm on the final chapter now on the US version. Have really enjoyed it though I don't feel the story is nearly as strong as the first game - haven't really connected to the characters as much as first time round.

I still haven't got my head around how much there is to do in the game - map collecting, dark world, levelling, character classes, item world...!!

Slightly struggling on 13-2 at the mo - any idea's welcome...

You should get it direct from Double Jump Books in the US. After all they published it.

I'm loving the game myself at around 45 hours in, and the sheer scale for level gaining experimentation makes this alot more tastier than the first in my book. I'll be up at Lvl9999 doing 2billion+ plus damage in no time. Its my fave game of 2006, so far & by far.

cheers for the heads up guys - should've checked for replies as I just ordered it from dvdboxoffice which means I won't see it for a few years!

Just completed the game and have opened up the chaos knight class...let the fun and games begin!

Spent much of the w/e playing this, got my first lvl 9999 char which makes passing everything in the Dark Assembly much easier

Been going through lots of the hidden stuff

I beat Laharl and Flonne in the first of the hidden boss levels, and now Flonne has joined my party as a level 500 fallen angel. Not liking the Cave of Ordeals as much this time around - there's no nice and easy power levelling grid as there was in the first game. One of the dark world maps has a lvl 500 zombie ( on default enemy levels ) which keeps respawning, if you can one hit kill that it works quite well as party experience for quickly getting new characters to level 100. To unlock the extra battles you seem to need a lot of subpoenas, which take a while to get :/

Guess I must be about 50 hours into the game on my third playthrough now. With my new power mad character, I hope to defeat Etna in the first meeting this time.

                    @Spoilers@

I've been getting lost in the item world building up Fellonies, Cash , Mana & Skills using Managers/Brokers/Mentors/Armsmasters and dual residents maxed out on a specific item. I'm only on my first play through. I'm trying to make the perfect item to swap between characters before they make the kill of higher levelled enemies that I've thrown together, so everytime they do they get tonnes of bonus cash/mana/skills and whatnot. There's loads of places to fuse the enemies and get massive Mana and Experience. I do miss the Statistician item resident though.

Fellonies can be got much faster by changing the summons/subpoenas value onto items that are worth going into and also by gencying out once you've gone to one and putting another summons of higher value then going back in again. Its time consuming, but worth it for the amount of fellonies you can aquire. I've got over 300 Summons in my warehouse because of transmigrations/re-incarnations. I'm also throwing full character stacks into the court entrance to give my party quicker fellonies in bulk. It can be a bit of a bitch for your monster characters though because they can't lift and throw, so you can only take one monster on top at a time.

I hadn't noticed the lack of statisticians in item world, haven't been working it that much, only levelling a couple of gold rings and similar items ( as they have good stat boosts ).

I'm not clear by what you mean about putting subpoenas onto items ... how's this done then?

                        @Spoilers@

Yeah sorry I was a bit vague. I meant the 'bailiffs' on the summons can be transfered between items like any other item resident. They don't just have to be on the summons for the entrance to the court appear on the item. You can't put multiple bailiffs on the item though - which would be nice.

The Bailiffs value only represents what level the entrance of the court is going to be on in the item world, so if you have an item that you want to go into and it has a free slot then the bailiff can be moved by transferring it as you would do with any other residents you've killed. The court entrance will appear on whatever level the Bailiffs value is on any item you move it to. It doesn't have to just be on the summons.

The trick being if a Bailiffs value is 6 it can then be moved to the item you are wanting to power up and the entrance will still appear on level 6 of that item, so if you now go to it and collect your multiple fellonies for your characters. You can then Mr gency out immediately, and then put another bailiff of value 8 in its place then go back in. The entrance will appear again on whatever value the bailiff is to enable you to collect more felonies. It does mean you've got to have loads of Mr Gencys exits & you could even swap bailiffs onto other subpeonas to continuously make the entrance appear on them if you wanted - as long as your Bailiff values follow on from one another.

You can do this all the way down the items levels if you have enough subpeonas/summons. I've been doing this trick because I've got alot of summons due to re-incarnating my characters again and again. Also it doesn't matter who collects the fellony even if the named person is on the summons, you just get ridiculed by the Prinnies for taking all your mates along, but you still get rewarded your 50000HL and your fellonies awarded to all the characters who you threw down the entrance.

Hope thats more understandable. It can be a bit time consuming - I admit, but its more than worth it for the multiple fellonies awarded as they are the best things for that extra stat growth this time around.

Got the subpeonas this sorted now, you can even

throw a stack of people into the gate so they all get the felony - which I discover by accident throwing a stack around the map

I've put in over 90 hours now, and I still haven't got all the map pieces. I have 8, and need another 8 still :/ I will keep plugging away to get to

                          The Land of
                          Carnage

I've now rinced through most of darkworld and the boss fights and I've gotten these characters in my party now

Flonne and Laharl - so it's almost like playing Disgaea 1 again

                          .

The only boss I'm unable to defeat is

Tarrant Lord Baal. Even after you've stolen his equipment he's still does 300K damage hits - he's much much harder than he was in Disgaea Hour of Darkness. I have defences in the 100Ks, and can end up dead in as little as three rounds.

. I'm working my ( almost - no rank 40 stuff yet ) top level equipment through item world at the moment, and gaining loads of testaments and Exodus all+ bonus items which really helps, though I haven't seen an Arcadia yet ( I don't recall doing so anyway ).

So, I still think there are few more hours in the game yet; I'm going through a legendary God?s Hand atm, and I still find myself thinking, "I'll just do a few more floors in this item before bed", and end up tired in the morning

My PAL copy arrived today with a nice art booklet thanks to Game.net and this release also comes with a soundtrack CD much like Atelier Iris 2. I can't wait to get stuck into it over the weekend.

EDIT: Turned on briefly tonight and the intro anime and the Disgaea trailer (which is missing from the PAL release of the game) were in black and white. I'm assuming this is because my TV is rubbish and can't handle a true 60Hz output. Can anyone confirm if this is correct or are they supposed to be in black and white?

Can anyone confirm for me please that the PAL version of this has a 60hz option?

                              Thanks!

Pal is 50 hz only. Pretty full screen with a bit of interlacing flicker.
