Note that survivors never break or run out of ammo for weapons. They do seem to drop them sometimes though. When I rescue some really wussy characters it's always fun to hand them a katana or a battleaxe and watch their confidence soar!

Some bosses seem to lock out characters and some seem to totally ignore them.

Wierd, that didn't happent to me. I got 7 in one go then went back to her, then just had to go find the final 2.

At level 44 now and the game is SO easy. Mini chainsaws are ridiculous, even the cult leader went down within 30 seconds with them.

I have one of the books that make it last longer, where are the other 3? Also, will it have 3 book icons on it to show you that it is triple booked?

        Mini Chainsaw Books:

Treble charge Adam's saw go to Bachman's Bookporium in Paradise Plaza, you get the entertainment and engineering books here. Get the criminal biography book from Sir book-a-lot in wonderland plaza, this also where the Japanese tourists are found hiding.

Yes, you will see 3 book icons when fully charged.

I gave this another proper go last night and I think I got it! Now I understand the system, it's not as frustrating.

I still don't like the aim controls though; the camera is fine but when you pull the right trigger the left thumbstick becomes aim and it just doesn't feel right or the one I naturally want to use in these situations. The right thumbstick is much better for aiming, like the camera, and that's what all other games I've played use.

Otis calls at the most inopportune times and then you can't answer in certain situations, like carrying someone through hordes of the undead because you have to put them down first.

I've only done Day 1's cases and have a lot of time until the next case, so I might restart, fly through these cases, do some scoops and hopefully rescue Bill this time as he got mauled to death right near the maintenance tunnel door, even though he had a gun.

Persevering, and I've finally killed the Convicts. The jeep got stuck in between the wall and a streetlamp and they couldn't move.

            They don't re-spawn do they!?!

The AI of the survivors is horrible (if they're not running into hordes of zombies after you've cleared a path, they're getting in the way of you killing zombies to make a path).... I just sledge-hammered the two Japanese tourists despite them both having guns and a way-point to get to. I saved just before, so I can go back and see if I can save them again.

The game is very flawed - But I just can't help going back to it, the flaws aren't enough to make want to stop playing, despite some joypad-throwable moments.

I can imagine a lot of people getting really P.O'd with it on first play, it's only now I'm upto Lvl 36 that the initial game-breaking annoyances are just peeves.

I think the best way to play is to forget the cases on the first play and go for achievements and rescuing survivors until you've leveled up, then go for the cases since it makes everything so much easier..... Odd way to make a game, but it's the best way to play it IMO. Glad I stuck with it

-- This feeling of frustration early on, brings back memories of playing another Capcom game, Super Ghouls & Ghosts..... I remember the 2nd level of that being excruciatingly difficult at first, with only 1 mid-way restart point, I remember the many times I'd got past the ghost ship, onto the rafts, survived the waves, then got killed by the boss and had to go all the way back to the mid-point.......After level 2, everything after seemed a breeze...... Capcom seem to like this kind thing huh.

Yeah I struggled with the controls in the Demo, but strangely took to them straight away in the full game - I think having the first Boss encounter all about the gun play and the meeting with Kent all about the Camera was a way of getting you used to the controls.

I love that, its so blatantly set up that way too. Getting a call from Otis during the Adam fight just made me laugh at how skank it is - of course I managed to answer him, while running for my life Answering every Otis phone call is an achievement in itself!

                  Waaaaaaaaa?! That's crazy

As far as i remember the yellow suit psychopaths respawn. Until you miss the chance to kill the main guy of the psychopaths. Or kill him.

A bit annoying about the respawning of psychopaths and zombies. The latter annoying me the most, as i like to clear an area and move to a different place and kill some more. I can understand moving out of the whole loading area but just running to a different side and back again respawns them.

Apparently they don't respawn if you trash the car...which I did...and they respawned. Very annoying. If you get the shortcut after the Adam fight you don't need to go out there anyway to be honest.

I read somewhere it's a bug if they respawn after you wreck the car.

Or they get stuck in the water outside the toy shop, then decide to run toward the window on the spot, then turn and get stuck by the light, and repeat. All I wanted to do was rescue him, but he wasn't close enough to the door. I beat him around a bit and that set him free from his cycle and I did rescue the idiot in the end!

If you have it, do the throw move and pick him up and chuck back onto the mainland so to speak...of course they will lose energy but it does work.

I still find it very frustrating but since using waypoints it's a bit easier. There is still the occasional survivor that is just ****ing pig ignorant and stupid.

Do you find that sometimes survivors get stuck in a loop, inhibiting you from letting them join you?

                            A couple of examples:

The two people in Wonderland Plaza hanging from the giant rabbit model - I got the woman to join, but the man wouldn't do anything, there was no 'B Talk' sign when went near him

.... It was only until I smacked him with a couple of hunks of meat that he seemed to snap out of it.

And later the same thing happened with

                            Gil in the Foodcourt

, he just kept laughing, and it wasn't until I threw a bottle of wine at him that I could make him join.

Nick should just talk to you after Frank comments on his "nice dive".

For Gil, basically keep talking to him until he starts laughing. Walk away from Chris' Fine Foods, as you do Gil will ask you to wait and apologises for his behaviour, go back and talk again, he then joins.

Ahhh, I get it, I just tried again with Gil and that worked fine.

See, I think this is a where the text thing falls down, because had it been a verbal/audio sentence, the player would hear it and come back. But as it us, the text only, in these tense situations, gets to feel pretty lengthy, so one tends to ignore more than the first sentence or so.

I'm wondering why Capcom made the game so text-based, I'm thinking of my time with Oblivion (which was rudely interupted by Dead Rising) and it's so full of audio speech. I think this game would really benefit from the dialogue being in both audio and text.... An idea for Dead Rising 2, huh, Capcom

                                ----------

OK, I swear this is my final peeve with this game, but when I'm carrying a survivor and I go into a different zone - sometimes I'm carrying/helping them, and sometimes I'm not... When I go back to offer them a shoulder/piggyback, it's far enough back to load in the previous area!! An un-needed annoyance!

And since we're on the subject -- The zombies must have a 'no-helper' filter on, because one can run past hordes of zombies when carrying or helping a survivor, and they don't even try to grab you!
