    Guides schmides!!!

You don`t ever need to buy game guides now that everyone has access to the internet, they are over priced tat!

No guide is as comprehensive as the knowledge and experience held by the gamers of NTSC-UK and the rest of the world. Gamefaqs, NTSC-UK and posibly xbox.com (where I am most of the time) is all you need.

    Guides, pah!

edit - There are loads of books that do many things, some are good, some are **** and some are better to have on certain playthroughs. There are good explanations for these on gamefaqs.

Personally I go straight for the engineering book in Paradise Plaza to make pipes, 2x4 and any other construction type items last 3 times longer. Eventhough it`s posible to make them last 27 times longer I don`t bother because Adam`s chainsaw is available early in the game.

In the same book shop is a book on entertainment book, this makes entertainment related items last 3 times longer, this is rubbish until you aquire Adam`s mini chainsaw, but also a chainsaw is a construction related item it`ll last 9 times longer when combined with the engineering book. In Wonderland Plaza there is a book on criminology that will make psychopath related items last 3 times longer so if you have all three books on aquisition of the mini chainsaw you get 3 x 3 x 3 = 27 times longer.

As well the above, there are books that will multiply the effects of health items, increased PP points on zombie kills and increased PP on photographs. The latter may help when getting the erotic shot of Jessie to piss Kent off in the photo challenge.

Basically the posibilities are endless but the first time I played through the game I used zero books. They do become very handy though on later playthroughs especially when going for tougher achievements.

      IMO, essential books are:

      - Enginerring (Bachman's Book Imporium, Paradise Plaza under Columbian Roastmasters)
      - Entertainment (Bachman's Book Imporium)
      - Criminal Biography (Sir Book-A-Lot, Wonderland Plaza, at the top of the stairs)

These three are the 'triple book' ones, that lengthen the life of certain weapons by 27 (3 x 3 x 3) times, namely, the mini-chainsaw.

      And:

      - Weekly Photo Magazine (Contemporary Reading, right across from the Warehouse entrance)

This book will give you a visual cue as to what category a picture will be by way of a coloured PP label over whatever thing/zombie is near.... VERY helpful for finding queens since you just look for green PP labels over a zombie.

Finished 72 hour mode last nite after going for the saint achievement and I got......... 45, GUTTED! I need to rethink my strategy. One died, I missed one and there was one that I didn`t find (but I know where he is now) so even with those I still wouldn`t have had enough. I got the full set achievement so it wasn`t all bad.

I hate the skateboard but, for the first time I picked up the skateboard book from Wonderlan Plaza, I then spent about an hour having fun doing kick flips over the rail on the second floor and droping on the zombies below, class!

Gonna go for saint AGAIN later this aft.

I`ll do it later for defo. As Frank is maxed and I always have maxed up mini chainsaws escorting the survivors was extremely easy, it was just a couple of school boy errors that let me down.

I`ve had ending "A" everytime I`ve finished the game, but I believe if you stop all cases after Barnaby dies you can squeeze another couple of survivors out of it by getting ending "B". This should make things easier anyway as there is slightly more room for error, but it also removes the need to do overtime mode to have Isabela survive after getting ending "A".

11.55 am, i am at the helipad, prepared to watch the final cutscenes and get my reward - ending a or b - not quite sure. but what then happend i wasn't prepared for: a cutscene showing the pilot searching for me on the helipad without success, then getting slaughtered by a zombie. ending c. over. and uli confused.

WTF? is this a bug or just stupid programming? i still can't believe this!

Did you complete all the cases Uli and it was definately ending "C" that you got was it?

yep, i closed all cases and was at the helipad in time!

my one and only goal in this frist play through was to activate the overtime mode to be able to play on. can't really think of any mistake i made. besides, this cutscene is stupid and illogical anyway.

Dude you need to go back and talk to the girl at her brothers hide out, she will then call you very near to the end of your time limit.

I didn't do this as there was no promt telling me thats what has to be done and got the ending you talking about - didn't save though so I could go back and see the girl for an A ending!

                      I just got this aswell

I was captured and in the military helicopter at 10.00am when I was meant to meet her so I just assumed I missed the prompt to go to her. Even started a new game and played abit before I saved it and went online to see WTF was wrong

As Spagmasterswift has already mentioned you need to go BACK and speak to the girl at Carlito's hideout first otherwise it wont recognise you're actually at the heliport....damn annoying I know.

Go speak to her until she says the words "Go save yourself" or something along those lines. Once you hear that, go back to the heliport and you'l get the ending you want.

I got bored with Overtime mode pretty quickly, I guess I wasn't lvl'd enough but by then i'd had enough of the game so I made my own ending up in my head

                          thank you mates!

i figure it's a stupid programming error then. i mean , talk or no talk with isabella, when all the game asks me to do from the very beginning is to be at the helipad at a special time and i be there in time with all cases solved, then i really deserve to see a good ending and get a reward. this is more than annoying - even though the game is meant to be played more than once.

Just started playing through this again on 72hr mode and on my first play through I never realised jut how disgraceful the AI for the survivors is. So many times I had to back track just to help people navigate around a tree or a potted plant and even ended up getting one of them killed as I waited.

                            Great fun ?_?

hopefully the PS3 version will be improved overall and bug-free. and have a better packaging with full color booklet, bonus dvd including making of, a big map of the mall and a mini guide. this would be nice.

i know Capcom said this game was exclusive to the 360 but they didn't say for how long, right?

It really became second nature for me to smash the plant pot outside the camera shop when escorting survivors back to the warehouse because sure as eggs are eggs, one of them would get trapped on it each trip..... Not to mention the struggle of getting them all up the step to the vent shaft, and pushing past them all to get Frank to the vent himself if I'd had to go back down to break up a pushing fit.
