You're looking at 20-25 hours or so, but that can be stretched out if you want to make all the weapons. The replay factor here is great though and is certainly one of its strengths anyway. With 2 playable characters, four different partners and a with quite an array of route splits & subplots from its simplistic but effective story set up.

There's a really cool pick & play ethic that makes this one of the best handheld RPGs in quite a while. Its not ground breaking or anything, and it wear's its old school badge with pride. Get it in you know you want to, but if you don't like random battles don't bother.8)

      Summon Night (GBA)

      Thanks for the replies AdamJW.

Blimey this game is good! I can't recommend it enough.

It's just like you say - its so good for picking it up, playing for a bit, then putting it down. Trouble is, you just want to keep playing lol!

I'm now about 7 hours in, got my character to level 30 and have collected 3 swords and got a bit further. There are some awesome Summon Creatures to fight along the way - the animation is simple but some of them really look great, the Sea Monster and the Lava Dragon especially.

If you love old school top-down dungeon-based RPG's you're going to love this game. I can't believe they didn't release this game earlier from the Japanese original as I'm sure they would have sold bucketloads when the SP came out. Lets hope they convert the sequel as well.

20-25 hours is usually what I want from a game, much more than that and I generally can't be arsed and get bored of it. Having said that though, I recently went back to my old save on Pok?mon Sapphire which I've been playing on and off since it came out and just went over 60 hours yesterday, but that is over the span of however many years it's been out.
Random battles aren't my cup of tea but it does depend how the game does them. If it's every 3 seconds and there aren't any items to use to avoid them and you can't save everywhere, then that's a real irritant. Replayability in RPGs I'm not so hot on either, but if there's 2 different characters and lots of plot choices, anything's possible.
Having said both of those things, this is the person who's played through Tactics Ogre twice and put over 110 hours into it. Practice what you preach? Tactics Ogre is pretty wicked though.

This game is a bit more open minded than I thought. Just after you meet your Master's cousin, go to the room on the left of the stairs to your workshop and speak the man in green on the right hand side of the room and he will say the following:

Honestly, Razzy has a really pretty face sometimes. I almost forget he is a boy. Lately, I've even been thinking my lover doesn't have to be a girl. I mean, when I get one.

It makes a change from NPCs normally inanities when you wander round chatting to them in RPGS.

Flight plan games are known to touch on many taboo subjects - as far as games go anyway. It touches on such touchy subjects such as Lesbianism & even nepatism. There's plenty to laugh at in the humour, but there's also a serious side to some of the issues it raises.

The other flight plan TRPG franchise Black/matrix touches on same sex relationships, and even openly encourages it. It does make for quite a refreshing change in attitude to games really.

Blimey. It's a novelty that it didn't get censored out in the translation. More of this please! Pubs and bars, not caf?s! Beer, not juice! And definitely no more conversations mostly consisting of "..." thankyouverymuch!
