How on earth do they get away with saying "HD Optimized". If even one line of code in this heap of turd is optimised then I'd be very surprised. I gave up trying to play this utter UTTER pile of ****. Totally uncontrollable due to hideous frame rates.

Plus the woman in the intro's right eye looks closed cos of the stupid filter they've applied.

    Horrible.

I tried it for a second time and enjoyed it more actually. I've gone from not liking it, to probably buying it after Xmas if it's cheap somewhere, within the space of a few hours

That's the point, tho - the Underground games were poo on an unimaginable scale, the series taking a great turn with Most Wanted (which itself was a return to 'true' NFS gameplay).

Please Mr EA, more daylight racing, less blinged up chavness, please... or me no parting wiv dosh.

          NO,NO,NO,NO.

3DO NFS was the pinnacle of this series and that was how long ago ? The best thing you can buy these days to capture any of that is TDU.

I whacked it on me 3DO recently, poor little bugger hasnt aged well at all.
Did bring back some great memories of playing this in glasgow virgin megastore, they had on 3DO runnig need for speed man i remember thinking that was the future also you could have head on collision and your car would go mad!
One time i went in they were running Super Street Fighter 2 on 3DO, jesus that looked and sounded awsome!
As for this demo, i saw a video on gametrailers about the online side of this and it actually sounded quite good fun, it has potential but the demo isnt doing it any favours, frame rate was all over the shot and the motion blur effect started to get on my nerves, think it was cause its a dark setting as Burnout im normally ok on.

Right, well I finally got around to downloading this today and after really enjoying Most Wanted i've been looking forward to it for some time. (Had my pre-order in for months!)

Booted it up and headed straight for the Drift Stage......Drift? DRIFT?? There's NO drifting whatsoever. I understand that EA haven't always been one for realism but come on, you do absolutely NOTHING to get the car in a drift.......To engage a drift in real lift you need to flick the steering fully to get the back end out. To successfully do it in Carbon you need to gently tap it.

Now I understand why they've not gone for the realism factor cause most of Carbon's audience would probably find it a bit difficult, but I expected the steering factor to at least be slightly true.

To sum it up, driving any of the three cars in the demo feel like getting a front wheel drive nova, sticking trays under the rear wheels and pretending you can drift. (not that i've ever done that in my life )

                    Hmmm,

And to make matters worse in circuit mode it damn crashed my 360...first time ever and its damn cold!! The blurring is unbearable and whilst I hope it's only because it's a demo it was never present in the most wanted demo!)

Needless to say i've cancelled my pre-order and i'm gonna look into Genki's offering, always did like the DC Genki games

I enjoyed NFS:MW and after watching the online modes demo vid, was quite interested in the cop/emiliminator idea. Sadly the drifting part is definitely pap - what happened to opposite lock? All it does is point the car in the opposite direction - not what you'd call a driver's games, but it's only part of the game.

On the other hand, I did think the mountain trail racing was far better, it did make me think Fast and the Furious. I just don't dig the whole night driving thing though, so I think I'll probably pass on this one, unless I can pick it up dirt cheap.

Playing the third course on the winding mountain track reminded me of Alan Wake. The desperation.

You do realise other people like different things? I enjoyed Underground 2, and I like The Fast and The Furious movies. I know they're stupid, but they're fun

Has to be said, I was really enjoying Most Wanted until I realised just how dire the AI was, completely killed it for me, as the actual concept of the current crop of Need for Speed games really appeals. It's always the execution that kills them (goes for any Post Need for Speed 3 Hot Persuit game for me ).

That said however I really did enjoy Need for Speed Underground 1 on PC, the console versions were dire thanks to the pathetic frame-rate, but with a semi competent PC you got a very nice looking game running at an incredibly slick frame rate and it made the whole experience so much more enjoyable.

Havn't tried NFS Carbon yet, but I've downloaded it and will be trying it in a bit I think.

I much prefered NFSMW compared with this, and even that wasnt all that good. The graphics are terrible, the handling is terrible, the music is terrible and the frame rate is terrible.

I've played the demo yesterday. Is it me, or is it just impossible to drive normally? Everytime I take a turn my car starts drifting like I'm driving on ice...
