    Expeditions: A Mudrunner game (PC/steam)

A new runner game and isn't really 4th game that would be a replacement for Snowrunner despite how long it has been out now. What we have instead is more a side hustle based more on adventuring over tough terrain, getting from point A to B an maybe back again than lugging heavy materials over deep snow and mud. It doesn't have much content so far (£35 starting point) with 2 real areas split across 4 largish maps each, and each of the maps have 4 to 5 expeditions to do before free mode opens up. Co-op mode isn't available at the moment, but a season pass is to add more areas.

As far as gameplay goes, it's much the same with the manual gear selection, turning traction and 4wd on, fuel economy that comes with it, winch's and cargo. What is new is tire deflation which allows more grip on rocks which are now a common occurrence with the amount of hill climbs, but at the cost of burning more fuel. Other additions are the land surveying stuff like the drone to scout ahead for reasonable paths, limited jacks for turning over a tipped truck and the portable anchor for when no trees are around to hook on to. Expeditions also ask you to bring specialist npcs with you, which acts more like you're delivering them to the destination so far, but i could see it asking me to hire multiple npcs which would require using more than 1 truck and increasing the cost to deploy.

Graphics aren't much better than snowrunner and mission and map UI is just as cryptic as ever, half the game is trying to figure out what it is asking you to do.

If you're looking for a easier to manage and get going runner game that is all about driving a truck over America's wilds, then this could be a place to start, otherwise try base-game Snowrunner for a deeper trucker game which has been given away on multiple services now so it could already be in your collection (defo PSN and Epic) and in the various subscriptions (PSN/Xbox)

Thanks. This is on my radar. I loved SnowRunner.

I see there's a texture pop-in issue on mud at close range. With the lack of content then and graphical issues, I will probably wait a little before picking it up.
