in Baseball ive discovered that you can use the d-pad to change direction of the pitches - it rumbles to let you know!

theres quite a few subtle things in the game too - i played tennis training for ages and you really can spin the ball and lob it. way more control than first appears, its all dependant on holding the controller correctly to register the nuances tho.

Just turned pro in bowling (1025). Have been given a new bowling ball with star type pattern on it!

        uh.. thx, I didn't know that^^

My tennis addiction has faded a bit and I'm stumbling around at 1400 points.
It seems odd to me, like I'm getting worse oO
Sometimes it just isn't registering my backhand motion at all (or registering a forehand motion instead, seems like it's registering my backswing) and every second forehand shot isn't going over the net.
While we're at it, my netgame is getting worse to (or so it seems, but I think it just shows now, while the ai is getting better and forces me to play the net more often than I'd used to do), I'm missing many shots, while my wii is diving into the air at the net, and seems like clearly reaching the ball, but fails to hit it and just strikes through the air below it.
I always thought I have to either hit a forehand or a backhand motion, but at the net, I can't hit some of the "higher" balls (I don't mean out of reach lobs). Seems like there's an extra motion for "slams" (I tried the obvious up-down motion, but I can't pull them of consistently right now).

It's puzzling and frustrating at the same time, even more so when the game get's faster, so that I sometimes don't really know if my mii on the net is supposed to hit a fore- or a backhand.
I'm also turned of by the lack of serve varieties. It's only a matter of hitting the ball at the highest point. Has anyone figured out if you can influence the positioning of the serve in any way or if you can give your serve a little spin?
And what about dropshots.. anyone knows how to pull them off (are they even possible in the game, I thought I've managed it, but maybe it was just some lucky coincidence as I couldn't replicate it)?

The Tennis and Boxing for me are making me wonder why I continue to play them! I just can't get the hang of either. The boxing doesn't seem to be responsive enough and the tennis I just end up hitting the ball out all the time. This is a big problem for one of the training games of tennis, the one where you have to hit the orange wall continously.

Can anyone tell me what the trick is to hitting in the tennis and boxing??

Weird - the only wii game I'm playing with any frequency is Zelda - Don't get me wrong I love sports I just don't see it as a single player proposition - it's a total party game - could last forever but I don't want to ruin it by striving for 1000 pts etc.

Re: tennis, i generally find i hit the ball out more when i'm swinging 'early' the best way to make sure the ball stays in is to let the ball get close to bouncing a second time, it should be very close to the mii by then. Timing is crucial....

I really 'got it' last night and was hitting perfect shots from everywhere, (Laruso) i'm intrigued by the comment re: lobbing and slice, can you confirm in writing how this is acheived? I hold the wiimote 'side on' with my right hand i get the feel that this is the face of the racket, does everyone accept that, that it is the face?

Does anyone else find in bowling the ball always seem to bend off to the left? I can't figure it out, no matter how I move or hold the damn wiimote it always veers off course!

I think it’s just the natural spin in your arm when your bowling. Even when you think you’ve bowled perfectly straight I think it’s picking up the sliht variance and translating that to spin on the ball. I tried bowling a few left handed (completely unnatural to me) and got the opposite effect.

I find if I focus I can spin the ball to the right (against the ‘natural’ spin) or get it relatively straight so it’s not a bug or anything. I find it doesn’t matter how you hold it during at the start of the swing that matters but if you flick the wiimote during the it that adds the spin.

I always move the angle two to the right to compensate...

Saturday morning when I got the Wii: Golf Drive - whacks daughter on head with Wiimote.

This morning: Bowling - whacks baby son on cheek with back swing of bowling ball.

Now - kids don't come within 2 meter radius.

It is just the way you naturally throw and it's hard to not do. I do the same, but I do the same with real bowling as well.
If I try really hard I can straighten it and occasionally spin it the opposite direction.

Still giving this a short go every day, usually do the fitness (age of 23) and 1 or 2 games of something or maybe some training.
I find myself going to play Zelda but always popping this back in for a go first.

I am the master of the baseball now. Unless I am pissed, I can normally invoke the mercy rule with my awesome hitting, have the pitching on lockdown as well.

Those who didn't know, holding down various buttons affects the way you pitch. Holding the B trigger instigates the curveball, the A button a screwball, and both buttons the deadly slower ball - the cutter. The d-pad affect the spin so holding left whilst holding the trigger will give a juicy outswinging curveball. The inswinger to the right hander is devastating. Holding down, for example, will give backspin etc etc.

If only this was somehow online - then I could kick everyones ass off this website. Already battered my mates on it, wife refuses to play it now.

Sounds like you'd still end up playing on your own as everyone else will refuse to play as well
