Shockingly no topic about this, though given the state of the 360 game I can't blame people for being unenthusiastic. I'll always buy a Sonic game though, the sucker that I am.
This is a bit better though. This is actually developed by an external group Backbone Entertainment, and I think the people who said Sonic needed to be handed to another team with fresh ideas (like Eidos did with Tomb Raider) were really onto something.
This still isn't brilliant, or worthy of the Sonic name, but unlike the 360 game, this is fun to play!
Pretty basic stuff, you play the game as either Sonic/Shadow/Knuckles/Silver and race against your rival, bit like the multiplay in Sonic 2, the difference being you can attack your rivla, either by usual means, or the use of power-ups etc. Plays like a Sonic game, no frustrating situations where you die because of the level design, this just flows.
And the best bit is there is't almost devoid of the infamous 'pits of death' that plague the GBA games and even Sonic Rush. There's not really any of that here. They exist, but they're somewhat sensible and avoidable with skill.
The boss fights are a bit like Sonic Rush, though this time our competing with your rival to defeat him.
Not great, but certainly a decent title and worth buying. Backbone Entertainment have done a decent job here.
NOTE - Game requires 2.82 firmware, but is fully playable on Devhook. I played it on Devhook 0.51 running the 3.01 firmware.
