    Parappa the Rapper PSP version

Well, well... What a surprise here!
Booted this up and it brings back so many memories!
It plays brilliant on the PSP but what is also surprising is how bright and vibrant the graphics look on the PSP. I'm sure they've tarted up the graphics to make this look better on the PSP! I know for sure that there is a 16:9 mode and a 4:3 mode as well. Unfortunately my Japanese reading skills are crap and I can't find an English subtitle option but I read that there is one somewhere!
Anyway, although this is another rehash, it is enjoyable for those train journeys to work... I GOTTA BELIEVE!!!

Is this story-driven game or much like DJ Max, where PaRappa only serves as a visual aid for performing a song? If the latter, how many songs are there and are they on par with DJ Max in terms of difficulty? If the former, how long is the game?

You never played Parappa? Ya missing out man...
Yeah it's story driven and there are only 6 levels!
Difficulty is not even half as hard as DJ Max but what we have here is FUN FUN FUN.
      Toons that are so memorable!

Kick, punch, it's all in the mind...

Excellentes. It's winging it's way to me. I'm sure the original Japanese version had English subtitles as standard though? Un Jammy Lammer and Vib Ribbon too and I'll be smiling.
            Kept you waiting, huh?

Surely there must be something new in this? Given that the PS1 emulator has been released, why would Parappa not just get released as part of that?

Nope because Sony would rahter make you pay ?35 and not need a PS3 to play it.

I can confirm it does indeed have english and it is indeed almost exactly the same but with higher res visuals... Not really worth paying ?35 or what ever it is bearing in mind the original UK Parappa the Rapper was ?29.99 on the PS One.

Received this today from my main main TBM. I'm enjoying it hugely, although the others keep telling me to shut up with my crazy singing, lol Punch, Kick, Jump! Now is it me or has the difficulty been ramped up some? I've been stuck on the second stage all evening. Perhaps I finally have found an excuse to do my PSP button mod. I intend to play it in Japanese, once I've gone through it in English. D/Lable music tracks are pretty good too. Nice.

Just got my copy today (bit late to the show I know!).

Breezed through all the stages that're available in easy mode and then WHAM!!! normal mode hit me with a vengeance. God am I struggling.......scraped through the 1st level but the 2nd is a real b*****d!! Is it just me or is the bar along the top really really small?

Rythym games seem to fall into 2 categories for me.....those where the timing seems really intuitive (usually where you anticipate & press the button very slightly early) & those that I just can't nail no matter what I try.

It's looking like the latter which is a shame as it seems to be a decent wee game and I really want to like it. I'm going to have a really good crack at it before I admit defeat & stick it in the trading folder. Can anyone who's a PaRappa veteran give me an idea of the best time to press the buttons?

It's definitely not early but I can't decide if I should press at the exact moment the PaRappa icon passes over the button that I need to press or if I should be leaving it a bit later. I've tried both but the increase/ reduction in my score just seems a bit arbitrary.....

                          Thanks!!

Personally, I find it best to time the button press to the music, rather than worrying what the indicator shows.

I remember when I first played it all those years ago that it was pretty frustrating until you got into the flow. Now it's one of my all time favourite games. Just love the songs

                            James.

Thanks James - will give it a try!

Unfortunately I don't have the best sense of rythym ever so normally with this type of game I rely pretty heavily on the on-screen prompts!!!

The tunes are great though (esp. the rapping driving instructor)
