Yeah, I've been milking Level 40. I don't understand people who can farm 46 - My health's well over 3000 and I've got most of the weapons, but I die in a heartbeat on that - I do the "fire Stingray straight away" thing but still get mullered.

Since I don't have a co-op partner, and I'm dreading the last five levels or so in Inferno, I may well have to do that.

Woof. I have trouble with 48 (although now I've unlocked that evil grenade launcher that you can just effectively shower-mortar enemies with from miles away, I might not struggle so much this time).
I was only joking about the cheating thingI've read it's near-enough impossible (unless you're a mentalist shut-in or gaming god) to finish it in Inferno in 1P.
I was struggling to farm 44 (****ing spiders!) but I did it a few times and got a couple of weapons I didn't have yet.

Or use your best Stingray and hammer it from range. The splash damage is also good for taking out any spiders near the nest.
I'm halfway through Inferno now and starting to struggle a bit (it's been fairly easy up until I hit the 30s). Think I need to boost my health a bit more. I'm lurking around the 4700 mark now - level 29 is great for milking health: it's the one with 3 UFOs that drop mini-Hectors. In Hardest you can get 60-70 health out of this in ten mins or so easily. If you've got the ZEXR gun it's a piece of cake. I just use that and a decent Stingray. It can get a little bit busy if you don't take out one of the UFOs first, leaving the other two to keep dropping Hectors for you to nail and pick up their armour and weapon drops. Your EDF guys can kill a lot of the Hectors by themselves before they expire, leaving beautiful fields of pickups.
I REALLY need to unlock the most powerful Lysander rifle but however much I go on farming missions on 40 and 44 the game just WON'T give it to me. Nadgers.

OOf it might be then that you have to go on a health-boost mission before you tackle this one. Some levels thrash you senseless despite good weapons, simply because you get swarmed by an enemy that reaches you very quickly then unleashes the perfect health-wittling jizz all over you, ie, webs.

The solution was to get my brother to join in - with him blowing the crap out of everything (he favours lots of explosions, never a shotgun or assault rifle) it left the gaps for me to blow the holes up.
However, it came to a halt later on with a more difficult level where spiders and both types of ants were emerging from holes which killed both of us even with the 2500 damage grenades.
I pushed on skipping that level and EDF answered my prayers with the Brute-J triple grenade launcher...wow! It had so much explosive power you can easily blow away anything near the hole then easily blow the hole up. It's so satisfying watching ant corpses disappearing miles into the sky after one of these grenades detonating, the fuse time of four seconds is pretty much perfect for the weapon. Just received a rather vicious sniper rifle which does 1000 damage per shot and goes straight through enemies...nice, even though it's only shot before reload.
Loving the prominence M1 launcher with the huge plume of smoke as it moves away from you then lazily turns round and goes after whatever target it's chosen finally slamming into it with a suitably large explosion!
Sigh...why can I not keep myself away from this game??

I'm suffering now - down to the last 8 missions in Inferno and I can't get anywhere. Boosting health (I'm at about 5600 now) doesn't do anything because the spiders strip it so fast (cheapest enemy evar) and the game won't give me the most powerful Lysander (which I NEED to get rid of the UFOs quicker) no matter how much I farm 40 and 44.
Shuzbutt.
