    New Rally-X (Xbox 360 XBLA)

Went up today, 400 points (£3.40)

I never played the original, but find this quite enjoyable, very 1980's (original was out in '81), reminds me of some top-down Spectrum racing games, happy times.

Anyway, as someone said in the Marketplace thread, does exactly as it says on the tin, nice simple game slightly updated for XBLA, no co-op play or anything, but it's not really missed. Most achievement points are very easily achieved for those interested.

Not a lot else to say really, except no-one on my friends list has bought this yet, you miserable gits.

    KLOV link (thanks to Marty)
New Rally-X is a Videogame by Namco (circa 1981). Race a car around a maze-like track collecting flags while avoiding pursuing enemy cars. This sequel has slightly different graphics and a somewhat easier gamep

      Well I wanted a top-down racer...

Despite what I was expecting it's actually a lot of fun so I bought it. Got 7 achievements in one go without trying (which is good for me so no boasting). I never played or even heard of the original so this was just as good as a new game, actually better because a new game would have had a lot of confusing crap on the screen making it harder to play. Only complaint is the controller makes me go a different direction than I wanted which is always more noticable on older 2D games than modern ones. But that's not the game's fault.

This could do with some kind of pacman vs. style update. Imagine playing as an enemy car and shouting over live where you just saw the player

I downloaded the demo last night, and it had me hypnotised

I like the eerie ambience the game has in abundance. It's really engrossing too. All the components work so well. Something all great games seem to do.

The only problem is the fact that I was really content to keep playing the demo, and I don't feel any need to buy it.

I wish MS gave games like this as presents.

I bought it and Namco have done an excellent job. The game is exactly how it should be, plus the menus and stuff are really nice (the "How to Play" screens are especially cool).

As said, the achievements are easy to get just like the other Namco releases, but the "No Miss (Round 7)" one is quite tough.

Do you know what really irritates me?

Just about every Namco game released for the Arcade (so far) can be played during the loading screens in most Ridge Racer games or can be played on any free mini-games website these days.

To put a ?3.40 price-tag on it is just unbelievable but at the end of the day, it is the customers choice.

People love it though, Pacman was one of the most popular. I don't really know why I bought it as I'm pretty sick of the same old stuff. At least I'd never heard of Rally-X before.

                  it was, until I discovered
                  *cough* glitch *cough*

unlock Round 7 (by completing it), start a new game from round 7, finish the round without losing a life and hey presto, achievement unlocked

Bah, I never knew about that. It took me a good few attempts to do it the hard way!

I can't believe they have the nerve to charge for this. As my girlfriend says "this looks like pacman to me". Anyway, each to their own I guess!
