    Metal Slug Anthology PSP

Got hold of the UK version the other day and it's bloody great. There are some annoyingly lengthy loading times between selecting different games (and some of the later games feature it in-game) but it's a small price to pay for being able to play all seven arcade slugs on the go.

There's the typical smudging issues that most PSP titles always seem to suffer from, but otherwise the actual emulation itself appears to be spot on and there's loads of unlockable extras to discover as well.

There's a fantastic range of great compilations available on the PSP and Metal Slug Anthology easily joins them.

Sounds good. Does it have all the proper hit flash effects that were removed on the Wii version?

      How about censorship?

Some of the Slugs have ended up with mysterious white spray instead of blood in the past (presumably to achieve a certain age rating), which always seemed daft when you could burn people alive anyway...

Of the three versions I'm most tempted by PS2 at the moment. I can play the original Japanese version and use an arcade stick. There are quite obvious control concerns with both Wii and PSP incarnations.

This is a great compilation, like the fact that all the blood has been kept in.

Controls work well IMHO, and I managed to finish levels without dying, which I've never managed on the home consoles.

        It's great!

It's not out 'til the 9th Feb. Pretty sure it was down for a March release 'til recently....

Darran reviewed the PSP release in the latest ish of Retro Gamer so I'm guessing it must be a review/ promo copy.

I think it's out earlier now as I've been given final box code.

As for how it compares to the Wii version. Well you don't have to shake the PSP to throw bombs for starters

It's been a total nightmare finding this in the high street.
I looked everywhere in Belfast (much to the GFs' annoyance) for this today.
Tried all the big stores etc.
                  VirginMS - Not out
3xGame - Say it's on the release list as Feb'07, and they don't have it.
                  2xHMV - Not out
                  GameStop - Not out

Ended up getting it in Forbidden Planet for £30. It's the UK release alright and not an import. They didn't have the PS2 version though. Is it due out the same day?

So why is it so bloody hard to find this in stock if it is on full UK release?

The US version isn't out until the 20th and the PS2 game has been put back to the 1st of March.

Has the UK version got MS6 as it only show's 1-5 on the Play website.

I really don't know what's going on with GAME tbh.....maybe someone in H.O. forgot to place a stock order?

They still had it up for pre-order on their website on the 7th. However, since then it seems to have completely disappeared (searching for it only brings up the Wii & PS2 versions).

It's definitely out though (GAMEplay even have it in stock) so who knows what they're playing at.....

The MS5 is taken from a bootleg by all accounts.
                              Kept you waiting, huh?
