    Vampire Rain (360)

First off - this game is fully english, though it is not region free.

The game plays like a mix of Splinter Cell (old-gen version) with sprinkling of MGS on top ... all the animation looks ripped straight from SC, not necessarily a bad thing.

Game is solely linear - looks wide open, but you can't exceed 'the mission boundaries', lots of hand holding to guide you about and looks to be a total lack of freedom in how you get past certain things (you either do it the way the game wants or you don't do it at all).

Game is dependant on stealth, if you are seen the chances are you will die - the vampires move too quickly and kill with one hit (which brings up a nice resi evil style game over screen). Managed to kill one vampire upto now - sprayed the ****er with my m16 ripoff and it disappeared into a puddle of gunk.....

which brings me to my next point - the puddles. The game (as you may have guessed from the title) is set outside in the rain. According to the blurb, vampires aren't as powerful in the rain so thats why the action take place then. Means lots of shiny puddles which look good, visibility cut cos of the rain (nice cheating way around it) and all the characters looking shiny cos they are pissed wet through (again another nice cheating way around it) - some of the cut scenes using the ingame engine look very good with water trails flowing down characters clothing etc.

all the levels upto now that i have played have been very short - get from point A to point B without getting noticed. You can tell when someone has eyes on you (the screen vibrates and some eyes appear ) so you can hide accordingly, hiding seems more like just moving out of the way rather than relying on shadows etc, for example i dodged one vampire just by going the other way around a parked car - very basic at this early point in the game.

It's one of those games which sounds good but unsure about long termivity... but please keep posting your thoughts later in the game

Am I the only dumb one who didn't get "Vampire Rain implies it's set in the rain".... must have been.

Can I ask how are the controls?
Hate stealthy games with clunky controls.

Asian version is out and region free. There's very little info available about it though, unsure if I should buy it. Can someone give some more impressions about the game?

Eurogamers review is up, the full game sounds shambolic.

It's availible as a rental from Blockbusters, so you cab try it for £5. To be fair it's not a bad game just does not have a big budget and does not have any new ideas. At £20 if you like the Spliter Cell style games then it's worth getting, at full price it's simply not value for money.

Sorry to bump a dead thread, but I downloaded the demo of this and for some reason I really liked it (in the way you might like a bad movie or a crap pop song say!).

Is the full game worth picking up if it's cheap?

If you liked the demo go for it, why not! Can be picked up new online for about ?9 to and probably traded in for ?4-5 not losing much....maybe just yer sanity but hey who needs that.
Wee note if your going for achievements though 650G of them are online only and good luck finding another human being on earth playing it, I did try and had to con a friend into buying it cause he was a gamerscore whore too.
Shame as well cause generally it had potential, just execution of it was terrible.

the single player is truly awful but the multiplayer was quite good fun if you were lucky enough to find a game.

I bought it cheap around christmas, and to be fair I havn't given it much time yet, but my initial thoughts were flawed but fun. I'd never touch it at full price, but it seems ok.
It does feel like an Xbox game a lot of the time though, but if you can get past that....

It's a great bad game, pick it up cheap for the laughs. Really if you enjoy it ironically you'll get the most out of it.
