Used Crueltear, will try Excelice next time. From what I've seen stages seem balanced for both characters, probably using Excelica will force you to use more grabbing for obtaining bombs.

Yeah video's are always welcome, there's one on super-play.co.uk, guy scores 250million whilst completing the whole game (Arcade mode).

Plus there is a good Stage 1 video linked here http://insomnia.ac/reviews/naomi/tri...ica/review.php

My DC just won't work with my new DVD recorder which is pain in the ass.

I really wasn't expecting much from this but it's ace! The anchor system feels really fresh and fun to learn, the game has a lot of character and some nice bullet patterns to boot. A tad on the easy side though, I got to stage 4 after a couple of goes and I suck.
Still gonna pick this up on Naomi one day though, it's great.

What's the strategy for the Bosses? Just kill them as quickly as possible for the higher bonus or can they be rinsed for extra points somehow? I'm not getting anywhere near the scores I'm seeing in the high-score thread!

Played this for a few hours last night, really fun shooter, levels are a bit short but loving the scoring system although can't get anywhere near some of the scores mentioned on here, my bests about 14,000,000. Has anyone unlocked any extras yet as I completed arcade and story a few times with both characters and haven't got anything, was hoping that you could unlock the other character in red, forgot what shes called, Fei or something.

Nor me. I'm having difficulty getting the swinging mechanic down. Looking at the vids, people seem to be able to grab something, swing it once around the ship then release and have it fly off, but I'm having trouble getting the timing right. I don't think I've broken 4 million on level 1 yet, so I'm nowhere near the scores in the other thread.

What determines how many boss forms you get? Is it the token counter at the top left or is it something to do with how you fight the boss itself?

Token counter determines the boss count.

I'll explain how I do it in a second.

                    Ok, here goes:

Don't spin when you don't need to spin. You'll notice you can cause quite a bit of destruction just by anchoring then immediately letting the anchor button go. The ship you're holding will explode with quite a large damage radius. At the start, just try to capture ships and catch them in as big a crowd as possible, especially plenty of ground units.

If there's a long line of enemies and you're confident you can throw into them, by all means do, but you really don't have to.

The bigger groups you blast, the more coins you have at the end of the level, which is where the big scores come into things.

Coins x Multiplier = Initial boss bonus. Bigger boss bonuses = More forms, and more forms = more score. Do well enough and you'll engage in a boss fight against Triggerheart Faintear after every boss.

If you fight Faintear, you'll finish the first stage with a score of about 28 million. Maybe even higher if you're fantastically good.

Multiplier is determined by explosions caused by anchoring. Every explosion caused by a thrown enemy will reduce the multiplier, while coins collected increase. So obviously, keep catching the enemies in large groups, and multiplier a-plenty.

Managed to fight Faintear at the end of level 1 for the first time last night- bloody hell, it gets a bit more difficult than the regular boss.

Died once fighting Faintear so screwed my score up a bit (finished stage 1 with 19 million-odd) and then made a balls of level 2.

I haven't played a shooter as compulsive as this for a good while- it's really good. The capture/spinning thing is a great hook. I can totally see the potential for massive scores too. After a couple of days I've noticed pretty big improvements in my scores.

had a quick go on the first level

took me a few minutes to work out the spinning enemies but it was really satisfying when i chucked a enemy into a cluster of them

think i am going to really like this

Must its a nice shooter. Nothing really special but nice all the same , I do like the ability to capture enemies and use them as a shield or better still spin them around (Discus style) and smash them into enemies . Graphics aren't that great, aren't that bad either (its like Gigawing meets Trizeal ) , like most Warashi shooters it's piss easy at the start, and then get rock hard near the end
Best part for me is the bullet patterns aren't that crazy , and far more traditional in their approach to most of the cra8p we get in shooters these day's

i do have to admit now cave shooters seem a bit over kill in the bullet patterns

really i like the idea of a shooter that is simple to play and not to hard......but can get really hard if your playing for a good score

Thanks for the tips. I'm getting there slowly. Switched to using a NeoGeo pad instead of the Saturn one I was using, and that makes the whole swinging thing a lot easier as it's a bit more stick-like.

This is a proper bit of alright isn't it? I'm well impressed. Infact it's quickly becoming one of my fave DC shooters up there with Psyvariar 2, BorderDown, Under Defeat and Gunbird 2
