It's good but i'm sticking with my virtua tennis on the dreamcast. Can't justify spening 40 buck on almost the same game.

1080p, a big career mode, custom soundtracks, online play...

        It's not entirely the same.

How many people on here can actually display 1080p anyway??

Due to the difficulty of the demo I couldn't say I got the gameplay I used to love. I've always been a Virtua Tennis fan to be honest, but this one has left me ice cold.

Admittedly I've not played VT for a while but this seems faster and less forgiving than I remember. I hopped between VT and VT2 easily enough but this game seems quite different to me. And not in a good way.

                    I have a 'full HD' 1920x1080 panel.

It would be nice to see more games with relatively simple rendering requirements support 1080p, perhaps stuff like Ikaruga on Arcade could run at 1080p and maintain 60fps.

Me too, and this looks a lot nicer than upscaling to 1080, not as soft

                        Blimey...

                        Talk about a polarising demo...

It's been mooted as being good as it's VT, and bad as it's VT. It's been argued that 1080p makes no difference and that it also does. The music drives some of you mad...

Before we congratulate or diss the game. Bear the following in mind...

1080p - Is optional. If you want it you can, if you don't, it'll run quite happily in 720p, or 480p, or whatever. Why argue, we've given you an extra choice, it's not like we're forcing you to buy a new TV...!

Music - Don't like it, play a Custom soundtrack. If you have the full version, turn it off. Again, it is a choice!

Difficulty - I suspect we maybe should have put the demo out set to easy. But then we'd have been told 'Too easy, no reason to buy it'. Instead we set it to hard, to give you some replay value. Full game has a difficulty slider, set it how you like. Again, you have the choice.

The whole point of a demo is to give you a feel of the game, and I think that the VT3 demo does this. In a way it's good that you're all discussing the things that are configurable in the full game, as if you are worried about the little things, it means we got the big things right

I'll bear all that in mind when I try the demo. Not sucking up all anything but if you ask me, the only decent stuff by SEGA latley has been all the arcade ports by Sumo Digital. So I'm kind of looking forward to trying this!

Well, I enjoyed the demo. Apart from being a bit tough (glad to hear it was set to hard- won on my 9th match), it seems to be VT lubed up and ready for sweet lovin... ahem looks ace - grass court especially. Yep, i'm afraid the music will have to be switched off for me. Reckon better tension can be felt from a quiet moment around the court at important break/matchpoint moments.

                            Anyway, preordered.

Are Sumo doing the VF5 port?

Pretty sure AM2 are. That's why the 360 one is coming out later, they wanted to finish the PS3 version first.
