    Killzone Liberation

Couldn't find an existing thread so....

Anyway after downloading the demo & quite enjoying it - I saw this in Woolies today for ?15 so decided to pick it up.

After 30 or so mins am enjoying it so far - they have maped the controls/commands to the psp quite well I think. Graphics and sound are amazing for a portable & the gameplay thus far is a typical shooter but done very well.

Haven't progressed much so I cannot comment on the story etc. but I think for fifteen squids - this is a bargain & I'm quite pleased I picked it up.

BTW I didn't play the original Killzone on PS2 but this seems to have the same main character.

Yeah, it's a really good adaptation (and IMO, better than the PS2 version).
Be warned though, it gets _really_ hard

Excuse the horrible bumpage... but the ****ing boss at the end of the third chapter is doing my ****ing head in!

      And excuse the language also...

... in other news, I'm actually quite enjoying this.

Killzone actualy had 4 main characters, which was one of its biggest faults becuase you could choose between them and one was massivley overpowered and the game wasnt much challenge if you were him.

I played the demo of this a while back, enjoyed it but was worried that it would feel repetative after a while.

I bought this on the assumption that it would be a traditional third person shooter (I enjoyed the first and knew this continued the story, so wanted to play it) so it shocked the **** out of me when I eventually played it!

It's a lot of fun to play but it's very challenging, perhaps even frustrating in places *waves at steaming remains of chapter 3 boss*. It requires a very considered approach, which is one of its strong points, but because of the isometric viewpoint (And no option to shift into first person mode to survey) and limited screen resolution you find yourself wading into battle before you even realise there's a battle incoming - hence a lot of the more difficult parts become a little trial and error as you slowly progress to the point that you have a complete view of the set piece and can adapt accordingly.

For the same reason, you also occasionally find yourself attacked from off screen, with no reliable way to acquire your target.

Technically it's excellent , some slowdown notwithstanding, and has the same voice team as the PS2 version. There's some decent replay value in the challenge mode too, which is a lot of fun (And rewards you with extras for the campaign mode).

I'd recommend it definitely, assuming you're patient.

I finally 'finished' this earlier today. Some of the later parts of the game are hugely frustrating, so much so that I feel a sense achievement akin to completing a CoD game on veteran!

The main reason I'm posting though is because, if you go to the Download section after completing the game, you can download another chapter. Hence why I said 'finished'. Not sure if anyone knew that... or cared.

I play this on and off.. It's a really nice game, and for a top down game it's pretty immersive (with headphones). I've also played a few online games and they proved to be quite fun. I'd recommend it.

Yeah. I'd say it's under-rated, but it was pretty well received critically, not sure how it's done commercially. I've just finished the fifth chapter (Which I'd recommend downloading as it advances the story nicely into the setting for Killzone 2 (It was apparently released several months after the original was released, so I can only assume this was released when the concept for KZ2 was finalised)) - it's generally easier than some of the earlier chapters (Though I did get ALL of the Vektan dollars in the first four chapters, which means you have access to a really powerful weapon from the off), but the final confrontation is a bitch (Like most of the bosses).

I've put loads of time into this (Although I'm pretty sure nowhere near the 74 hours that the stats suggest) and I've completed only a third of the game content, so it's good value as well.

And I haven't even touched the multiplayer. Honestly didn't think it'd still be active.

I eventually got around to downloading the official demo a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. Some thinking is needed to complete it which I like about the game as well as the top-down isometric view.
Its on my list of games to buy...
