I also find grenades and melee has come into itself on this version now, they are more important than ever before.
Lopping a well timed grenade to someone with the laser and a couple of BR shots to the face can do them before they have charged up fully.
Also slowing down the rate of fire on the sniper is a good choice, means you have less exploit of double shots and more people trying to become more accurate with the weapon. Another good example is the plasma pistol less homing on it now is far better no more newb combos AHOY, that combo would do my head in at times especially if it’s ALL the person does.
It's getting more finely balanced by the day, needlers might be a bit too massive though, they have toned down the homing on them too but you get direct in someone face even with one nevermind a pair, they gonna die!

The Spartan laser and sniper rifle are fun and powerful weapons but if those are all you've got and you come up against someone better prepared with, say, a battle rifle at medium range or a shotgun up close you are going to die.

I hate unloading nearly a full clip into someone (generally not even facing me), then running in for melee kill to get knocked out myself KNOWING damn well that I hit the B button first.

This is so true... and what irks me is you probably had way more health than they did, yet they still get an instant kill. I think it might be down to unseen amounts of lag, and the trick might be to hit the button what seems to be a touch too early.

The melee is the new shotgun for latency revelations, I've had it loads of times where those damn americans have beaten me to the kill.

Most times in a 1v1 situation when you are sure you shoudl have won it is because someone else was shooting/grenading you at the time.

Though Boris is right, latency can on occasions make life tough. It isn't as bad as the H2 shotgun though.

How many games have you played ? It's way worse than the H2 shotgun - at least every bastard didn't have one - any fool can melee.

I haven't much of an issue with lag tbh. Certainly nothing like the pain of Halo 2 shotgun only or sword only matches.

Melee is way better than it was in Halo 2. The lunge in H2 was way too far and it was just too easy. In H3 it's being made more skillful and tactical as you can't lunge from 3 meters away.

Talking about the Shotgun, eh... Even though they have made it more powerful and have 'fixed it', I do and suggest that every time you shoot in close combat finish it of with a melee just to be safe.

why don't you just jump or stay away when you can see someone coming at you for a melee attack, and then pump some more rounds in with the awesome assault rifle?

Because it's a melee lottery! It's 50/50 who goes down, and you always expect it to be them

What a co-incedence, I recorded me doing that aswell, showing my mates the pistols and the option increase speed and decrease gravity.

I wonder if Bungie intented for custom games to be an Easter egg?
