I'm not expecting Blue Dragon to be any better, just hoping that's all. It wasn't just the enemy design either, just the whole template that is so tired now. My first proper JRPG was FFII (IV) on the SNES and it's amazing how little many have progressed in the fifteen years since.

Haha, you'd be wrong mate. This has Poo Snakes, Hermit poo crabs and wading through dropped enemy Poo's to find treasure it's crazy.
