Capcom Classics Collection Vol 2 PS2

Picked up the second volume of Capcoms retro collection this morning, which has been out for a few weeks now but no 'first play' thread! Ive only had a little go at a few of the games so far, but im happy to say its pretty good with 60hz options on all the games in the Pal version, which are-

Avengers.
Black Tiger.
Block Block.
Captain Commando.
Eco Fighters.
Knights of the Round.
The King of Dragons.
Last Duel.
Mega Twins.
Magic Sword.
Quiz & Dragons.
Side Arms.
The Speed Rumbler.
Street Fighter.
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo.
Strider.
Three Wonders.
Tiger Road.
Varth.
21 games in all which is a bit of bargin at ?15, although many of the games have been released before there are a few great games that have previously only seen the light of day of the PSP versions of CCC, (or have only had a limited and/or 'Japan only' release, if at all) so its nice to play them on the big screen.
Im very pleased to see Captain Commando getting a wider audience as its up there with 'Final Fight' in the 2d scrolling beat-em up hall of fame, imo.
Anyone else playing this?

I had it, but sold it, not as good as I thought it'd be and Captain Commando's not half as good as Final Fight in my opinion, though it's cool it has a 4 player mode... I picked it up for £12.97 from Woolworths then got £12 for it...

I'v been playing this a fair bit. Enjoying captain commando, king of dragons and quiz of the dragons (capcom edition). Three wonders is actually very good as well.

This is a great compilation. Faves of mine include:

Captain Commando: Great looking scroller, with good imagination, and lots of action.

Eco Fighters: Fantastic shooter with great visuals and gameplay.

Magic Sword: A firm favourite. I remember playing this in the arcades as a kid. It's always impressed me; it's just a really fun game.

Three Wonders: Three fun games in one. A lot of fun.

Strider: One of the most majestic experiences I've enjoyed time and time again.

Side Arms: I really like this shooter. It looks good, and has some excellent gameplay.


The other games are great too. It shows how much of a rip-off the LiveArcade and Wii retro games are. Bargaintastic.

unsure about PAL land, but it was released over in the states on the Xbox

The xbox version didn't come out over here, but at least they treated the PS2 version with more care than volume 1. Captain commando is a true overlooked classic. Ninja commando!

I find the majority of old favourite arcade games to still be good, if not brilliant; especially when I've been playing current games for too long.

The big name games like Final Fight, Street Fighter 2, Strider etc... These AAA games never seem to age. I think they will, but when I go back to them, they seem timeless.

They are a lot different compared to todays big name titles, but that's what I like about them; they often feel refreshing.

Having infinite credits means that you can sit down, and play through, just enjoying an hour of old-skool mayhem. With another player joining in, things are even more satisfying.

I guess some people simply love modern games so much, that old games become irrelevant. I'm someone who doesn't like the majority of modern games; so I tend to enjoy retro experiences.

This isn't the strongest Capcom collection. I'd say that 1941, StreetFighter1, and a few others aren't very good, but then again, the ones I don't like, are the ones that I've never been fond of.

Im enjoying it massivley, which is saying something for me, as i havnt been enjoying or even playing for ages, but im loving this. Was playing through Knights of the Round, and found it very enjoyable despite almost nobody having a good word to say about it May have to invest in another ps2 stick though as the d-pad sucks. Btw for those with hdtv's Capcom has included 480p support in CCC2

There are some great shooters on this compilation but I really don't like the way scores don't reset to zero after you use a credit, what an annoying oversight. I'm sure this wasn't the case in the arcade versions, otherwise all you'd need to put up a huge scrore is a large handfull of coins. Also, the frontend is a bit of pig, laborious and confusing to the eye. I thought the presentation in the Taito Legends games was far better; clean and uncluttered.

The 'worst' thing about this is the intrusive, screen-filling popup you get when you press Start to insert a credit.

Apart from that, this is a great collection. Nice they've gone the 60HZ route this time, too.

I think you have to fullfil certain conditions within each game to unlock little extras. These are labelled in one the many annoying menus.
