Minna No Golf 5 (Everybody's Golf 5) - PS3

Fired this up for the first time last night, and it's my first foray into the everybody's golf world so got a few questions! Any help with these would be appreciated

1) Going through the challenge mode, every once in a while there's a "ticket" which comes up at the end of a successful challenge with a congratulations on it, but I can't see that this is unlocking anything?

2) When playing, pressing the square button selects two different shot types - one flames red, one flames blue. Apart from greater distance (blue seems longer than red, correct?) is there any difference between the 2 ?

3) What does levelling up do to the character in the challenge mode? I've got up to level 2, but can't see that it's making any difference to the stats - I saw that the number of shot types that I can use went up, but not sure if that is down to the level or club selection ?

4) On the character select screen, there's 3 spaces next to a smiley face and a sad face. When I went to select a particular club something appeared in a slot against the blue sad face - any ideas?

5) Is there a way of doing lofted / punch shots?

Loving this so far, but I have a small question. When you finish a challenge, you are asked to pick a card from a choice of six. Is it always the same stuff you get? I've got loads of clubs but only two sets of balls. I've just taken on and beaten the second challenger. Does the content vary or does it even out in the end?

I think we pretty much decided that as long as you complete all the challenges on each tier, you do in the end unlock everything without having to hope you pick the right cards.

On each tier, some of the clubs and balls can be levelled up, so although it may look as if you are simply unlocking the same thing over and over, they do in fact improve each time.

Can you communicate through a chat system in this? I've been thinking of picking up a wireless keyboard and mouse and noticed some comments about being able to text chat on this and a few other games.

Mine should have been here yesterday/today. Nothing yet.

I think red(Power) goes further even if you don't hit 100%, where as blue(Full Power) will only go the full distance if you hit 100% power.

Basically adds more power, spin, shot ability, amount of times you can use the power/full power shots, different costumes and also certain levels let you use better clubs.

Smiley face means that club/ball is beter than others when you hit the ball into the rough, bunker, etc... Blue face means it's that particular club/ball's weakness.

5) Is there a way of doing lofted / punch shots?

Holding directions on the d-pad while making your shot is the way to add spin/loft/drive your shots.

Me neither really, but I'm thinking it means you can now play the full 18 hole course? or the Mirror/Pro tee versions maybe?

Also, the "FULL" shot is only available if you use a 1W Driver.


I lost my save file after fitting a new HDD so I've been hammering this during the week after starting from scratch again. Brilliant game.

I've had a really brief try on this now and it's everything I was hoping it would be so far!!

I had a look around online but didn't try any matches there.

I've got the JP game without the English instructions. Is anybody willing to sell the English language book to me on here*? I know it's available online and I have downloaded it but I'd much rather get hold of the official book if possible.

*Mods, I know that there are rules about posting links to your sales threads but I couldn't find anything which disallowed me from asking this. If it's not allowed then please just delete that bit.

coming a bit late to the party but just got my copy.

been struggling a bit with the grind of Tiger 08 and i love how pick up and play this is.

loving the new control method and not finding it a breeze, not done 9h under par yet.

sure that tiger will get parked for a while as always find unlocking stuff in this game pretty addivctive, just wish the english releases weren't so tardy and I always have to play it in Japanese.

top stuff.

TGS '07: Hot Shots Golf 5 Hands-On Preview

Hot Shots Golf may be known by many names around the world (such as Mina No Golf and Everybody's Golf), but in any language the series has become a byword for humorous and accessible golfing action. The game has appeared on every Sony platform since the original PlayStation, so it was no surprise to see it announced for the PlayStation 3. With the game already being on sale in Japan, we were able to play the finished article ahead of the Tokyo Game Show, as well as talk to the game's developer.

The latest Hot Shots Golf looks to be shaping up nicely, and as this stage there's only localisation to be done in order to get the game released in the US and Europe. The last games in the series have gone down well with fans, and we remain hopeful that this one will do the same. We'll have more details on the game once Sony announces more official details post-TGS.

Why the hell do they always wait until exactly 2 weeks after I've bought the JP version of a game before announcing these things?

The fact that they are doing some localisation is probably a bad thing though as I'm guessing that it won't just be the language...

damn thats annoying, still this game single handed made me love my ps3 so can't complain that much, plus is there a pre xmas date for this ?
