I've mainly been using Suzuke (the old guy) and I think he's at level 5. I didn't plan on using him much but after trying him and realising he thinks he's in D-Generation X with some of his celebrations, I couldn't turn my back on him. Unlocked Yuming now though and she's who I planned on using before I got the game, so I'll probably switch between the two.

I haven't played as him yet, I prefer to use the characters that hit the ball straight so I can work it which ever way I need to myself.
I wonder if they will release any course or character updates that we can download as the game can obvousley be patched on the go (online mode for example)

Can anyone tell us how the actual leveling system works? I playded two 9 hole rounds last night for first time on 1player and I got a love heart filling up then I went to level 1. Is it based on points per hole (ie get 200 for an eagle 40 for put on par or whatever it is) or is it based on winning that series 1st or of course both?
Also the versus on one player how does that work? I started a round and was getting a "I think" average after each hole bottom left (started out at 0.5 I think) but I wasnt actually playing anyone like the previous versions (ended up quitting after getting an eagle then next two messed up).
Ive actually spent about 4hours just practising with the two methods.
Also noticed the spin has changed now its just dpad up down left or right you dont seem to be able to get super spins like 3 & 4
Edit just noticed Id played challenge mode then the mode I didnt understand was stroke mode, can anyone elaborate on the stroke mode of any benefits or if their is a aim to it (ie get 4 under par for the round) or is it just a solo mode to level your character? Also where is all the vs modes that was on the PS2 versions???Last edited by Guest; 01-08-2007, 12:47.

You can do the super spins (blue trail) Press up on the power set and down on the impact set for backspin
You play vs the AI once you have filled the red bar at the bottom of the screen, the other games are against the AI in tournaments, this may change as you progress through the tiers though
I think the levelling is point based but it is also loyality baased, ie you fill the hearts as you play with the characters

Cheers. I did 4hours on practise last night though MikeF and came to the conclusion as long as you got a good hit strike with the ball holding down say with a PW gave exactly the same bluespin as trying up then down as of old (which is what Ive always been used to). I did also get it showing up on a loading screen just showing the dpad movements of 1 of 4 (if I can get it again I will post it as Im going to dig my camera out today).

Just holding down or up gives you a red trail, the blue trail gives you the super backspin and the ball sucks backwards leaving a burning trail on the green
You can get the red trail even if you don't get a 100% impact strike, for the blue trail you have to get a 100% strike impact and use the dpad commands as far as i know

Not sure on the levelling myself, I've not really looked into it other than it goes up each time you play.
For the spin shots, as far as I can tell, having not played previous versions of the game:
Backspin = down on the d-pad.
Topspin = up on the d-pad.
Super-Backspin = up on the d-pad during the back-swing and then down on the d-pad during the down-swing.
Super Topspin = down on the d-pad during the back-swing and then up on the d-pad during the down-swing.
With side-spin or draw/fade you hold the d-pad to indicate which side you want to strike the ball. ie. you'd hit the right of the ball for a draw and left for a fade (assuming you're using a right-handed player)
I haven't played the stroke or match-play options in single player other than those included in the main career/challenge mode.
edit: seems I was late with this reply anyway...

You can get a flaming trail with a good normal backspin it's just not as much spin and therefore needs to have a higher trajectory for it to grip the same.
