Is there any way to play the demo without having to go through the training bit every time?

The instructor in the tutorial was very natural. Much better than the Xgames guy from DiRT.

I don't think there's a way to skip the training, but you can just ignore it and skate around and do what you like and the voiceover won't interrupt or anything.

No Sir i don't like it!

Just felt completely unresponsive to me everytime i went to do a flip trick i would just ollie, and landing grinds felt very frustrating.

I might have another go at it but it just didn't feel fun to me.

Give it another go mate. You just have to get used to it all.
I love the game but landing the harder grinds are a bit of a pain in the arse I agree. I thought I had Smiths/Feebles wired but sometimes it goes to tail slide or summat else & I have to try them a different way instead. Same goes with grinding on the ramp coping too.

I did pull a lipslide to 5-0 by accident (i.e. ollieing into a lipslide, then sliding it into a 5-0, unlike in TH's where u would have to ollie from 1 to the other) & its something I've never seen before in a skate game. It looked so natural & is actually a favourite trick I like to do on my real board. The problem is I spent the next 1/2 hr trying to work out how I did it!!

Looks like a true masterpiece in the making.. As someone mentioned its like a spiritual successor to the genius that was Amped 2. I hope they make a snowboarding game next, with the same (no messing about) control and stuff.

I love the way the feet move on the board, the way the body reacts to landings, and the fact you can slide about, on land, and on the lips, kind of pushing into the grind... brilliant and a must buy me thinks.

I played this last night and really enjoyed it, it felt like a skateboarding game should but was a far cry from Tony Hawks.
                Tis really hard though.

Tell me about it! I kept going to hold A coming up to a rail, and ended up crashing my feet into it going head over heels.

The ragdoll physics aren't quite right, looks like they've tried to get away from the floppy ragdolls of the past and ended up with bails that look equally stupid because they are so rigid and tame.

Just downloaded this, weird camera angle, totaly unatural control scheme where you have to flip the right stick about in unison with about 10 other button presses to pull off a decent trick and grinding is an absolubte nightmare. Maybe im just in a bad mood or somthing, but to me the game didnt seem like it was just hard to master, it seemed like it was hard to play full stop, which isnt good, especially when it has a totaly forigne control scheme.

so basiclaly what im saying is that I really didnt like it much at all.

                        This game is amazing!!
Every time I play it I figure out something new which not only adds to this games complexity but also makes for such a rewarding experience.
Remember I mentioned the lipslide to 5-0 grind that I worked out how to pull? Well, my Bro came over for a bash yesterday & this game has basically convinced him to buy a 360!!
Anyway, he was trying his shove-its & flips, then lo & behold he goes & does a late shove-it by mistake. He didnt know how he did it, but after a few mins I worked it out, along with late flips too!! Not only does this open the game up even more, but it also means u can do shove-it late flips like in real life!!
If u want to know how here's how u do late flips or shove-its:
L Shove it: ollie (down - up), then do the shove-it (down - quarter circle L or R).
L Flip: Ollie (down - up), then flip (down - up R or L).

Oh yeah. I also pulled 5-0 fakies on the banks on the other side of where the 2 manual islands (where u learn to push & ollie onto in the training) are.
When u ride the steep banks make sure u lean back or go into ollie because if u dont u wont get up the steepness properly!!

I still have gripes but for a 1st effort which is made by EA & isnt a TH clone this is fantastic both in playable terms & in terms of eye candy. And dont forget theres bound to be a sequel at some point, but which time hopefully they'll have polished it even further & added more!!

In complete opposite to rmoxon, i adore how difficult it is to master the skate. controls.

This demo has really blown me away, since i wasn't expecting much, as the last real Tony Hawk's Pro Skater i played fully was no.2 as the rest i've only played briefly, and didnt really get on with them.

But skate. has surpassed my expectations!
After Halo 3/ Call of Duty 4 it is my next anticipated game for the Xbox 360!

I just love it because it is anti-THPS in the way you don't have these crazy scenarios, the ludicrous air you can get for which to perform a zillion tricks (yes, i'm being facetious)
It's hard to grind at first, but the satisfaction i got when i landed a perfect grind and kick-flipping into a different grind was immense, as i took it for granted in THPS since i felt it was a little 'automatic'
Plus going from a jump > grab > then land a grind on a rail, was also equally satisfying.

I've never been this enthusiastic about a demo in sodding ages, and i'm counting the days until it releases.

                          Well done EA!

                            I agree totally with jimtendo.
The difficulty is what makes me come back to this demo so much as I so want to learn how to master what I've already learnt & to progress on to harder tricks or find new ones, which seem to keep on coming!.

THPS just became a button bashing contest after the 2nd one. You could play it blindfolded & as u mentioned the levels were so over the top its just daft. From the demos I've seen SKATEs levels look much better laid out & more like a skateboarders natural terrain.

I'm loving this more and more each time i play.

The more you learn the better it gets. It's so rewarding once you nail a sweet line. I've found that I’m able to stay on the board for a long time now without falling off, as judging distances and lining up grinds and manuals are becoming easier.

I also like the way the colour pallet of the whole game changes once you string a set of moves together to build up your meter.

I did a quad flip as well!! (watched someone do on the ea.skate replays and went out and nailed it myself)....awesomeness!!

I still think there is room for this and tony Hawks, I don't see why only 1 should be allowed to exist.
I'd kinda like to get better at this btu I found that I'm too conditioned from playing many THPS games, as I kept trying to ollie with A and grind with Y
