Indeed... by which time you should have all 100 pickups... but there's still stuff left to achieve and scan.

Started playing Prime 3 a few days ago.
I pretty much ignored the first two due to the poor controls. It's been okay so far with some nice designs along the way but I just started on Elysia. Beautiful, just stunning. Really starting to shine now.
The controls have been fantastic with the only downside being the grapple. Just feels a bit off to me. I was expecting the ball sections to be fairly tedious but they been quite cool so far.
Shooting the doors still seems like one of the worst game design ideas around. It makes absolutely no sense.
If the Big N do as Miyamoto talked about and re-releasing old games on the cheap with the new controls, I'd snap up MP1 and 2.
I love my Wii's.
edit,
Knew I forgot something. The loading on the door's is appalling. Such a poor job.Last edited by Bort; 20-09-2007, 19:47.

Anyone encountered slowdown/ framerate chugging? I hadn't one bit until this morning in 2 areas I had been many times before without it happening
Skytown the large areas where you collect the 3rd piece of the bomb and where you drop it off
Been back there later and no slowdown - hoping it was just a one off problem.

Feared my US Wii was dying but it just got back in the chair and started singing again.
Completed it tonight. Good game, not fantastic. Superb controls.
Only had six of the nine energy cells when I reached the end. Like normal I got ahead of myself and used them on the non-critical stuff. Luckily there is a respawn glitch so I just abused that instead of backtracking to find another cell.
Ended with 66% complete. Wasn't worth it to 100% it so I just watched the two extra endings online.

Ah, the forum is back and I can rant about hyper mode.
Completed the hardest mode yesterday, and immediately began a last playthrough in normal as I missed two logbook entries and four gold credits.
BTW, hyper mode: there standard Pirate Militia (the skinny pirates you first encounter on the Valhalla) requires as many shots the first boss in normal does and their attacks are much more damaging; almost every creature has doubled health and a much higher damage curve, with the most damaging being bosses.
However, whenever you encounter a Pirate (and they go around in groups of two), you just kick into Hypermode and there's nothing else to do than standing there, carefully husbanding your shots until you are corrupted trying to keep Hypermode active for as much as you can, shots are more powerful and you are invincible.
Boss fights take *much* longer, with the first Leviathan guardian being the longest and most annoying of all. It's not difficult, there's no variation to the usual attack patterns, weak spots take a lot of shots to go down and you can get tired of fighting it. There are some real good battles, fast and furious, where the boss is much more aggressive and you die because your lack or skill or the usual stupid move done when excited, which is good.
I'd say, however, that Hypermode can be described as being difficult as the other Prime's normal mode; I know that some people had few troubles with Corruption's normal, but for Prime veterans, standard modes (normal and veteran) might be just too easy.
However, it must be said that the last bosses are a bit less cheap than Prime last bosses, and their fights are much more enjoyable.
On credits: the red, gold and blue credits the game awards are exactly the number you need to unlock everything, no less, no more. You need a complete creature logbook to have all red credits, a complete lore logbook and perform some special actions to have all blue credits and play the game in normal (or veteran) and hyper to have all gold credits, plus you need to find and
kill all red phazoids during one playtrhough
. Still working on the requirements for all gold credits, there might be something more to do.
There are a lot of green credits and I'm still discovering new ones, I have 9 left and need 4 more (wink wink).
[edit]
Ah, yes, forgot this one. You get nothing special for beating the game on all three difficulties, even the ending splash screen in the same. Developers should really learn rewarding players with something different for playing their game for three times - something small, but something (like being able to send pictures to normal email addresses).
[edit2]
discovered the last gold credit
escort all 12 demomen to the last door on Pirate Homeworld
. Will never be able to, will never play again a fifth time to try it. Maybe.Last edited by briareos_kerensky; 24-09-2007, 17:50.

@ Briareos, so would you say it's worth again playing in Hyper Mode, is there a different or longer ending compared to completing it on normal? It's a sad fact but Corruption is the first 3D Metroid I've played where, on completion, I haven't felt compelled to immediately start again on a harder difficulty.

Completed the game last night on Veteran and 91% completion. I thought the last boss fight was one of the most tedious and boring fights in Metroid Prime history. A shame because the game has some very good ones.
The Gandrayda fight being my favourite. The setting in the pouring acid rain, the music and the fight itself made for a lovely encounter.
In fact the last few hours of the game were very unexciting.
You spend far too much time on the Pirate Homeworld. Then you go to Vallhalla. Then back and the constant red hue just becomes a sore to the eyes.
Couple this with a boring start, and you have a game which may have the best controls and graphics of any Prime game, but sadly is not the best Prime game in spite of these advantages. The original still remains top of the pile for me. And on reflection I actually enjoyed Echoes more than MP3 as well. I think Corruption could have benefited from more organic environments like the first two games; there's too much in-doors, in-ships stuff in the game. Although Bryyo and SkyTown were absolutely fantastic and very memorable.
Still a top game and one of the Wii's best, but I do feel Retro were getting a little worn out with the series and it shows. Looking forward to their next, brand-new project.

In fact, I wouldn't have played it so many times if I wasn't unemployed or there were other ground-breaking games out there (and if it required the same backtracking required by other Metroid games); it's a good challenge but nothing more.
I think Corruption is more enjoyable than the other two Primes due to its more linear structure (and I know many will disagree), but if you feel to start it all over again, then don't, you won't lose anything in pure game terms.

I got the 100% ending on normal so am a little disappointed to hear there's no reward/different ending for completing it on a higher difficulty. Still, despite it's flaws, it's definately been one of the year's top 3 games as far as I'm concerned (along with Zelda: TP and Space Giraffe) so will probably play it again on a higher difficulty in the near future.

Um... as with the 2 previous Primes, your reward for completing it on Hyper is extra unlockable content.
The only way to get all of the gold tokens is to beat the bosses on Normal/Veteran AND again on Hyper. With all of the tokens comes all of the content.
For me personally I think people are too hard on MP3. A sequel is always expected to not only replicate and better its prequel but also to be original in how it does it without deviating too much.
My only issue is that some of the bosses that require you to hammer a for 10 minutes whilst navigating past their attacks, and I loathed the final boss on Hyper difficulty - it was more a question of patience and saving health than skill. If you could have restarted from each phase after being killed by one it would have been OK.
MP3 had a few annoying boss bits and hypermode made things a bit easy at times, but then the pirates also take far more of a pummelling than previous games and the bosses were designed with hypermode needing to be used anyway.
Overall like any game, it had a few niggles but I think it is a masterpiece along with the other two.
Oh, but the sound unlocking it annoyed me. They have things like 'Metroid theme' in there but not some of the great boss music like
Rundas or Ice Bryyo?

Played the first hour or so, enjoying the game. Controls take some getting used too and I dont rate the sound too much at the moment - but I do love how everything feels interactive. I know its a cheap gimmic but theres something nice about touching the controls in the ship etc. Regarding the visuals, I can see the emerging amazing art style - I know the first level isnt much to go by (lots of bland colours) so Im really looking forward to seeing the later levels. While it feels like they are trying to mimic halo, I think it did the game some good. I enjoy all the voice overs etc, its bad by any means.
