    Practice, practice and more practice is the only advice anyone can really give.

    Try playing random on songs as well as it'll get you used to playing different note patterns ,I never really use it but a lot of the higher ranked folk on VJ Army get better scores from doing so, it can be a double edged sword though as it can make some songs much easier(Kakumei for example) but also make others much harder.

    I've barely touched Distorted since I got it due the lag calibiration being inexplicably different from Happy Sky's which worked perfectly on my LCD, I hope Gold fixes this problem or I don't see me playing that much either, I really can't fathom why Konami don't have a calibiration system similar to Guitar Hero/Rock Band. Still buying the Konamistyle LE day one though although not from Playasia as the bastards never sent the poster from my Distorted LE.

      I have yet to touch a song that Random has made easier. Everything's always been harder for me.

      I've been practicing (and failing!) on 10's for the last week or so. I finally managed to get into that concentration zone today and managed to stay in the red the entire way through on erasermotorphantom, but my body literally started shaking by the end, I fell out of it and B failed!

      I need to find that balance between not getting too excited and still being aggressive enough to handle that bloody notechart. I'll see if I can youtube my run in a second.

      My main weakness is scratching and hitting notes at the same time, as i've not yet gotten used to being able to hit all 7 keys with one hand, and it's the music rhythm equivalent of rubbing your stomach and patting your head, it's awkward...

        Guys any chance you can help us?

        Ive dug my IIDX deck out today from loft and all series from 5 onwards (just bought distorted) unfortunetly Ive forgotten how to play this again with my stupid memory. Can anyone help on the best hand placement as I cant even do the first song ie should I use it one handed or say put 4 fingers from one hand on botton and rest on top etc.. basically just need tips on getting hand placement.

        Cheers Darren

          I think Nisa or fuse would be the best people to answer that as i'm positive i've got my hand placement all wrong. The little finger on my right hand usually hurts like hell because I stiffen my hands up horribly.

          Behold, my epic fail on erasermotorphantom.

            mein gott

            Is that actually possible? I haven't played Beatmania since they killed off the regular edition, and I found that really hard...

              It's most certainly possible. I was fine until as I posted before, my hands and body literally started shaking because I got into that 'oh crap, i'm still in the 80% zone' and I just snapped and lost it.

              Closest i've ever come to clearing a difficulty 10. I know I hit far too many misses for it, but I think i've got more of a chance of getting a hard clear on that.

              I know for sure the other posters in this thread eat notecharts like that for breakfast.

                Haven't played in so long I just had to dig out my old controller and use muscle memory to remember what finger placement I used

                This is not how I do everything, but generally how I'll at least start to play a song. Like say you get a drumroll on keys 6+7 (my personal nightmare), I will bring my left hand across and alternate hands to help me stick on beat. Anyway, by numbering the keys like this;

                -2 4 6
                1 3 5 7

                1 = Left ring
                2 = Left middle
                3 = Left index
                4 = Right index
                5 = Right thumb
                6 = Right middle
                7 = Right ring

                (scratch = left pinky)

                One thing though - do NOT take this as gospel. I am not that good, nor does every single good player use the same technique. Fair enough try it out and see if it works for you, but don't be afraid to mix things up a bit

                I would also recommend that once you get to a certain level, usage of random really does help. Even ignoring the songs where it makes a BIG difference, it's good to prepare for everything and expect the unexpected. In my mind it helped keep the game fresh too. Silvergun, have you tried watching videos of others playing Contract? Dunno if you've found any or if they were any help, but if you're really struggling I could try making a crapsujin?

                In the meantime, here's one to help you out with ErAsErMEAOAEORKI whatever it's called:

                  Hahaha, fantastic video.

                  You could certainly try!

                  I do a lot of IIDX recordings even though i'm not that good, just because I like to keep track of how well i'm improving and people like to see them, which is fair enough.

                  Oh, I actually properly cleared a 10 last night and it was an Another too, so i'm actually really chuffed about that. Can't remember which one it was though. one of Sota Fujimori's ones, back to the light I think?

                  I'm getting used to playing at a slightly slower speed than i'm used to but sticking Sudden+ on at about 300~350.

                      Woohoo, Gold is coming out on May 29th.
                      Special edition this time comes with the Beatnation Summit Live DVD and a GOLI desigend box to keep it in. More stuff for the LE is yet to be announced which will probably be a cd of some kind and the usual poster I'd imagine.

                      2 CS songs have been announced so far,
                      FULL ON / Chain of Pain / kors k vs Nekomata Master+
                      SHINING RAVE / Guilt & Love / The Plastic Ambition (jun & DJ YO****AKA)

                      Jive into the Night got resurrected from 4th Style as well which I believe is the first time a licensed song has been on 2 IIDX CS' (Final Countdown & Fantasy for DJ Troopers please Konami).

                      Also L.E.D. has an album coming out but there's no date for it yet.

                        Aye, I caught this news in the early hours of the morning.

                        Chuffed to pieces with it and i'll be going for the lot of it, including that Maya artwork book that was announced aswell.

                        It WILL be getting pre-ordered the moment it's up on PA.

                        In more gameplay related news, I'm actually starting to clear 10's now! I'm regularly managing to finish Mei [h] and Xepher [h] on Happy Sky, Blue Mirage is far too easy and i'm incredibly close to doing Aurora.

                        So it's mainly just the 10's on DistorteD that give me problems, then.

                          Gold really doesn't interest me, but as usual I'll be stumping up the cash for the full set just to keep the collection going, and to provide myself with a nice bit of wrist-breaking fun for a week or two on release. The artbox sounds like it'll be nice and I'd quite like the Maya book to go alongside the Goli one too, but thankfully my man in Japan will still be around to supply them rather than having to go through P-A and take the gamble on when, and in what condition it'll arrive.

                            I tell you what though, I wish I still had IIDX Red.

                            I managed to snap my DVD in half.

                                7th Style, that's how. As far as eurobeat goes, Love Generation[a] is the daddy!
