It's really annoyed me this level...as you can tell.

The Cortana Level is NOT crap.

It is the low point of the game but that one level is still better than most fps games. The Darkness for instance, Cortana is better than all of that game, and Doom 3/Quake 4.

Dont know if this is a fluke or what but on the second level, in the hanger, as the ships come in droping off covenant I shot the gun turret off one of the ships and it gave me the achievement ...

That didn't work for me, tried and tried but no mater how quickly I destroyed the turrets it woudln't give me the achievement

Just got it on Level 1 where the Phantom drops off the grunts and brute, plasma grenade onthe front turret = Achievement Unlocked.

I have to admit that "Cortana" is the low point of the game for me, I still need to visit it again in the metagame mode but once you know the route and where the sniper folld spawn it's not that hard or bad really.

Legendary took me almost 2 hours on that level and I think I died 59 times before I finished it.

Yeah those sniping flood spider things were a nightmare for me also, on Legendary they just kept morphing on the ceilings left right and center and I was forced to take cover until i realized just how much fun and effective sticking them with plasma grenades was, so long as you could reach them that is!

Glad i got through it eventually though, I much prefer open levels than small enclosed areas where even the walls can become your worst enemy.

Just wondering about the Too Close To the Sun achievement. Is it possible to shoot down the banshees at the start of level seven, or are they too far away and 'not really' there?

EDIT - and also the one that says 'destroy an enemy vehicle with equipment'. WTF counts as equipment I'm guessing it's plasma / chaingun turrets unless anyone knows better.

I got it on level 3, there are those missile pods at the back of the level with marines on them, liberate one of those and kill one of the many banshees

BTW surfing the interwebs reveals that the We're In For Some Chop achievement requires you to destroy a vehicle using the X button items such as trip mines, energy drain etc. I'd imagine saving a trip mine from the defense phase on the Highway and using it on the Choppers in the following area would work best.

Equipment is things like the Proximity Mines, Power Drainer, etc. I got this Achievement in the campaign by attacking a Brute Chopper with guns enough to weaken it and then made it try to ram me after dropping a Proximity Mine on the floor. BOOM! Achievement Unlocked.

Halo 3 makes me giddy with joy whenever i see it next to the rest of my games. Its the best game for the 360 and game of the year imo. I can see myself playing this for many years to come, the multiplayer options are out of this world, theres nothing else that comes close to it.

Played Rocket Race on Sandtrap & Valhalla earlier with 4 teams of 2, would recommend it to anyone that hasn't tried it yet, it's quality.

I've got to agree there - if all games were as much of a package as this, well...well I'd probably have fewer games tbh.

why is everybody so keen on the achievements? do they unlock anything in the game?

btw: anybody actually found any need for 4 types of grenades? i think it just makes using grenades less effective and fun.

I've only picked up the firebomb grenade like twice, I'm not even sure If I imagined them on those occasions too.
