I think it may of been hinting that she had more than just the Doctors appearence, doesn't she say something along the lines of being just stolen memories from her mother?

So it sounds like the storytelling was a bit cack all round in Halo 3. Shame as it seems to have a very rich setting. Actually can anyone clear up my question on the

Halo firing. We stopped the Prophet firing the Halo and then fired it ourselves. Why didn't we just let him do it?

Got my Heroic completion achievement now. And a couple of skulls. Nice that playing that first level again worked quite differently depending on what I did this time and what the enemies did.

        Dogg Thang,

The Prophet was attempting to activate the Ark, which acts as a device for firing all the Halo's. Which would of wiped the Galaxy clean.

          Watch the cutscene

Just before you fight the oracle, you fight him because you are knowling going to fire the incomplete ring, causing it to self destruct. He doesn't like it and wants to protect it, hence it going a bit bonkers

Is it normal that my in-game online rank is different to the one on the Bungie site?

Not sure that this is going to be an issue for many people but its worth mentioning.
I've been playing split screen Legendary and got halfway through the 7th level before calling it a day. Reloaded it the next day and carried on from the 2nd checkpoint and finished the level but it didn't recognise that we'd finished it. Had to play again from the start of the level.
When you quit playing on splitscreen it doesn't give you a 'save and quit' option so that'll be it but its weird that it registered the checkpoint.
Anyway might save someone an hour or two of frustration!

Yeah you can't continue and have it register the level as finished in co-op, only in singleplayer when you use the resume campaign option after saving and quitting

                  You mean the

the monitor right, guilty spark. don't remember him being referenced as the oracle.
EDIT: I think i remember the elites referring to him by that, now. Im not trying to correct you or anything, just want it to be clear. I was getting preety confused by it, thinking you were referring to one of the previous games.

I just read the GTM review and I have got to agree w/ those guys when they remark on how the plot is far too convoluted and unnecessarily complex for it's own good. Noting that anyone who does not read the novels will struggle to understand exactly what is going on.

Still, what bearing does the plot of an FPS have on how the game plays? None.

Well, I wrote a review for Amazon.co.uk but since my review mentioned scratched disks on the Collector's Edition, I guess they pulled it from publishing. Anyway, went like this

"A Review For NON-FPS lovers (like me)"

Having tried out the Bioshock demo on Live the other day, I was shocked on how pulled in to a FPS I had been. Amazing. So while I waited for a retail copy to appear on a local shop, I decided to jump on the Halo 3 hype bandwagon and get the game. Since the difference in price wasn't all that much, went for the Collector's edition.

My first problem with Halo 3 was a scratched and dirty game disk. Luckily, having opened it in the store, there was no way people could refuse me asking for a new one. Upon coming home, I realized through some websites, this issue with the Collector's edition is widespread.

Passed that hurdle, off went Juha, the FPS noob, on Easy mode on a Campaign (solo). Had a BLAST! right until the game forces you to ride / fire while riding a vehicle. Now, this is seriously the worst part of any of the games I own. Controls are like trying to maneuvre a F1 through rain after half a bottle of vodka while being kicked in the nuts repeatedly. Camera all over the place, especially if you colide with walls. And getting killed when other Covenant bikes just slam into you without you even noticing them coming: not fun.

After that, the game just went downhill for me. Being forced, again, to use vehicles was, again, restraining my fun in the game. Sure, bosses are huge and fun and not to mention very difficult for someone with terrible aim and no FPS experience, but I can understand the fun.

I have not completed the game yet.

Not caring for multiplayer - at ALL - this leaves a flawed game, in my opinion. The general consensous of a Perfect 10/10 game makes me wonder if these reviewers, breezing through the solo campaign (probably co'oping) never realized a solo player sees the flaws where they are.

I thought the game looked quite bland in some parts (open stages, at least), certainly not to an HD pedigree already set in many games from the 360 library, but was defintely above average in the graphical department; special effects, lights, all awesome all around.

And the sound? Amazing. Perfect. The score, a notch or two above competition.

The multiplayer? No idea. I suppose for those with experience in this type of gaming, might be having loads of fun with it. I am not one of those people.

As a solo / campaign game, this game is, at best, a 3 out of 5.

Now thinking about reselling my Collector's Edition, and its been only a week. Sad, sad, sad (and damn you Bioshock, why are you so late)

                        Juha.

He survived the original destruction of Halo and teamed up with the humans / Elites at the end of the second game as he thought that was his purpose (in order to aid the last Forerunner i.e. Master Chief).

                          Spatial, IS Master Chief

the last forerunner though, or is that only what Guilty Spark thinks?

I found the the guy trying to get into the locked door in the second level without the password yesterday. I thought that was pretty funny stuff. Any more little funny exchanges dotted around the game?

Vehicles have been part of the gameplay since Halo and still feel like Halo vehicles in 2 and 3. I don't mind them or the way they handle.

Agreed, Halo brought FPS/story and good veichle combat to the table back on the Xbox and continued to use the winning forumla. Halo is not just a FPS, Halo is Halo. A great formula! So FPS "noobs" will struggle with it if their mind is set on....its only a FPS. No offense ment to FPS noobs or any noobs at all, as we all were ones at somepoint !

The rest of your review is well done though! Great write up
