it is possible! just try a different approach to the hangar fight - i guess this is where you got stuck. there are a number of strategies (stealthy grenade sticking the Elites i.e.) which work out if you've got some patience and favour a tactical approach to the game. hints and detailed guide for Halo's Legendary mode can be found on Bungie.net and also on various fan sites .

it's easy to see that, in the long term, Halo 3's single player experience will be regarded as inferior to the original for quite a number of good reasons. and Halo 3's unchallenging Legendary mode is certainly among them!

Oh FFS. I just remembered the biggest liability with Halo: the f-ing save and quit system.

Don't ask me why, but I just have this awful tendency not to save and quit. I've just realised I lost all the progress I made earlier this evening because I forgot to use it.

EDIT: managed to get back to where I was with relative ease - had the tactics down I guess. It's the mark of a truly great game, that re-playing doesn't feel like a chore.

Those hammers are awesome! It's worth keeping one in your back pocket for an emergency.

Sorry if this has been answered before but can you play Bot match in Halo 3? I have been onto the forge mode and it just seems crazy that you can't add enemies into the frame.

No.... Halo 3 is easier than 2 on legendary, but that dosnet mean its easy, its a relatively fair but challenging and rewarding experience which makes it MILES BETTER than Halo 2 in my opinion.

It's also better than the first game too. 3 has the best level design and story(even if that dosnet say much) of the lot plus its just improved in a number of other more subtle ways. It will be remembered for being the best, without a doubt, but will probabaly take a while becuase it was never gonna leave the same impression as the first game did on peoples psyche.

Anyone else think that Master Chief sounds a lot like George Clooney? It was bugging me throughout the whole game, and I finally realised at the end.

One problem I had, my save glitched out somehow, and I had to play through the
level again from the Campaign Lobby, and for some reason I didn't get the achievement for that. Worst level in the game imo, and now I have to go through it again for the Level 8 and Game Complete achievements.

All in all though, the game was excellent and had some great set pieces and cinematic sequences throughout.

You dont have to play the whole game again, just the 7th level, once its registered you did that it will give you the game complete achievement too.

If those two are all you need you wont need to touch the cortana level, as that is level 8

Sorry that was meant to be Level 8, not 7. Just did the second half of it again from Campaign Lobby and still didn't register, so will need to do the whole level now.

                        yeah true

it would be funny if it did spoil it for someone, given cortana's been awol since halo 2 it's a given we'd have to get her back

                        just in case:

it was great when you finally get her back, it feels like halo again. perfect way to wrap things up i thought, like everything was back to normal

It was good getting her back but to be honest I was a bit annoyed she's suddenly working fine - the game and books had been hinting all along she'd go wrong but that goes nowhere and it's the monitor who goes rampant despite the fact it's been trying to kill you since the first game

mate, have you played and completed Halo's Legendary mode?

however, Halo 3's level design isn't better in my opinion. maybe it's prettier and not as repetitive. but in terms of atmosphere the Assault on the Control Room or The Silent Cartographer still have the little edge for me. and i'd chose The Library over Cortana.

first and foremost the combat of the original Halo still rules. Halo 3 has its moments, indeed lots of it, but some issues make the combat less enjoyable for me: the AI of the Brutes is too predictable, 4 missing useful grenades, assault rifle and shotgun are less effective, also the plasma sword. the new equipment is most of all gimmickery and the Legendary difficulty is merely a shadow of its former version. i still haven't completed it but so far i am missing the OMG! moments. Halo 3's co-op is really nice but where is the challenge? i really wish Bungie would re-release Halo with a functional online 2 player co-op mode.

In comparison to the standard at the time both games were released I wouldnt say its prettier at all really, the graphics are actualy my only real complaint with the game, by todays standards they arent that great.

The level design in the orignal Halo didnt actualy have very much imagination put into it, it almost felt by the numbers. Halo 3's level design reeks of passion for what they have achieved with the universe they have created. The Libary is the most boring level in any game I have ever played, it took me three treks through the original Halo to finish the game as The Libary was so labourous a task and I was put off it twice.

The Silent Cartographer is the most memorable Level from the original Halo for a few reasons, it blends the outdoor and indoor moments really well for instance. The indoor moments also felt fresh at that moment of the game. Yet when you look at it again every room, every corridor feels the same.

Halo 3 never felt like this, infact its variety in evnviroments is one of its biggest strenths, and the way that every level feels differnt from the last is such a good thing. The original halo never had this at all after the half way point.

I actualy feel the weapoins are more balenced now not sure why thats a bad thing, you have less plasma grenades but all that means is you have to think more about how you use them.

Maybe nostalgia has blinded you, but i'm sorry, from nearly any standpoint Halo 3 is just a far better game that Halo 1 or 2.

Ive played Halo's legendary mode, but no never completed it (again, I got to the libary), unlike Halo 3 it was just never compleling enough for me to want to see it to the end.
