    No, you`re not mistaken.

This game is a bit of a poorman`s God of War but as GoW isn`t available on the 360 it`s the best we`ve got.

It`s a case of mashing X or Y, then a combination of X and Y. There are also context sensitive moves ala GoW but they are **** in comparison.

This game was fun for a while, plenty heads and limbs being cut off, but the people you are fighing in level one are the smae as the ones you fight in level 5 and so on except for the fact they might have different hats on.

I got bored of this game, it`s rubbish!

        I`m glad I could help!

It tells you something when you buy a game for full price on release and the next day CEX are only offering ?15 for it.

i found a new US copy at 30 Euro and after reading the positive Edge review i decided to give this a go right after finishing DMC4.

well, i am a little bit more than halfway through and i can't stress enough how much i enjoy this game. especially considering i just come from one of the best fighting games currently available. there are lots of greatly animated fighting combos to learn for each weapon constellation and the dodge-block-strike mechanics and controls behind it work perfectly. most of all this game has some of the best boss fights since God of War 2. these bosses truly deserve their name regarding lenght and drama of the fight and it's so satisfying to overcome them.

the game certainly is no technical showcase on the 360 but it's beautiful in places and has some nice art style. i just wish the character models had gotten the same attention as the scenery.

if i should rate this game i'd give it 8 out of 10. i can only encourage everyone who finds it cheap to pick it up.

btw: someone heard of the US version being censored? i remember in the demo i played the girl was shouting something like "cruch me with your love". this line seems gone from the game...

The copy I have says something like that. I tried to oblige but there didn't seem to be a button for it.

                thanks anyway.

Well I just finished this on the hardest difficulty and have to say I really enjoyed playing it. The art style is clearly inspired by legendary Conan artist Frank (sometimes referred to as Franz) Frazetta and suits the game beautifully.

Yes it's kind of God of War lite, but apart from a few minor niggles it does what it does very well.

How can you not like a game where the maidens you rescue say such things as:
                  • Where are my clothes?
                  • How can I repay you?
                  • I didn't know my savior would be ... so big!
I give this game a five feta with olives rating!

I fancy a God of War type game. Conan or Vikings? Which is better?

I'd try Conan - it can be picked up for 13 quid from choicesuk.com. I'm playing it at the moment and its great fun.

                            Major bumpage time.

Shot in the dark but YouTube and GameFAQS have been of little help. I've just wasted the last 2 hours on the first stage of the Bone Cleaver boss fight. Anyone remember any tactics to beat this bastard?

I've tried rolling around, stabbing when I get the chance, which does very little damage to him, and also throwing axes at him from afar. Nothing seems to work.

Honestly, if I see the "Death is cheap in Hyboria" game over screen one more time, then to Hell with it.

                            EDIT:

And he's done. Never been so happy to see an achievenment unlocked. Took me the best part of the afternoon, mind.

Clocked Arkham Asylum last night, fancied something a bit less complex and as I've had this game sitting around for six months, decided to play through it 'properly' on 360 today.

The first level of this game is really underwhelming, you're basically in a dark passageway fighting ghosts (very boring) and the first thing you'll think is that it looks absolutely shocking compared to God Of War. If this level was on the demo, I can imagine why it didn't sell very well.

Anyway, once you conquer that (very easy) level, the next level chucks you outside into a sun-drenched forest, where you hack away at human enemies with satisfyingly bloody results! You can chop heads off, arms off, slice peeps "in twain", disembowel opponents, rip their hearts out etc. (plus you get a neat piledriver move with lets you explode your opponents' heads into the ground!), and the combat is lots of fun with a nice, easy to understand upgrade system with oodles of new moves to master. Not only that, it's a breeze to learn moves, swap weapons, and once you've mastered parrying, the game gets a whole lot more fun to play.

There's 'nuff criticism of the voice acting, but its woodenness adds to the game's pulp charm. A great plus for the game is the length of the cutscenes, they're short enough to tolerate yet just long enough to keep you in touch with the (simple) storyline. Yes, play it with the voiceover turned ON, Conan is a truly sexist monotone bast!

The graphics - whilst initially seeming shabby and underwhelming - actually improve a hell of a lot as the game goes on, with a nice solidity to the environs, a savage-looking Conan and some nice boss characters reminiscent of Golden Axe (Bone Cleaver is the spit of the hammer fatties from GA). The overall atmosphere of haze and sun really adds atmosphere, and like someone else mentioned, there is a hint of Prince Of Persia to the overall 'look' of the game, though this game is a lot more smoothed-out than the slightly grainier effect of POP.

Totally enjoying this game, well worth the £4 I paid for it. Three of my mates got the PS3 version for £1.99 a few months back, when Zavvi/Head was shutting down, none of them had a bad word to say about it.

                              Fun, fun, fun.

                                Nice boss characters!

They're all complete and utter bastards.

                                Every single one of them.

                                But particularly that last one.
