Wow.
Just... wow.
I'll say from the start, no DX10 effects at all. The full detail in the demo will be the medium detail in the full game.
Support for Aegia PhysX cards. I may have to buy one purely for this game.
You're given 4 game modes. Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Vehicle CTF, and Duel. Unfortunately no 'Warfare' mode which is what i'm looking forward to most.
At this beta stage the server browser is crap. Doesn't arrange servers by ping at all, and displays full servers even when you tell it not to.
Does have an integrated friends list though so you can join games with friends easily. No way of favouriting a server though...
On my rig (Athlon 64 3500+, 2gb ram, Radeon X1950 Pro), it works like an absolute BEAUTY on the highest settings the demo will go. They've done an absolutely fantastic job of getting this running on modest spec systems so you won't be needing to take out a loan on buying a PC for this.
All of the weapons are back in, as far as I can tell, no new ones at all, but they've ALL received changes and overhauls. Nothing looks the same. And I personally adore the new, very elaborate weapon designs. Especially the biorifle which has since become my new favourite weapon of death and destruction.
The maps so far have been excellent, and the whole thing certainly has that 'Gears of war' feel to it, not surprisingly. Just.. a whole lot faster paced, really.
Adrenaline system has completely gone.
In vehicle CTF, you get the option by pressing Q to bring out a hoverboard, incase you're without a pickup or a vehicle and you need to travel long distances. While you're on your board, you can't shoot, and getting hit a single time will knock you off it and disable you for a second. I believe that when you're carrying the flag, you can break out the hoverboard and hold onto the back of a vehicle (lol back to the future), but i've yet to manage that. All I saw was a lockon target appear when I was hovering, on the back of a friendly vehicle.
More to say as I play.
