    Unreal Tournament 3 (PC Beta/Demo)

    Wow.

    Just... wow.

I'll say from the start, no DX10 effects at all. The full detail in the demo will be the medium detail in the full game.

Support for Aegia PhysX cards. I may have to buy one purely for this game.

You're given 4 game modes. Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Vehicle CTF, and Duel. Unfortunately no 'Warfare' mode which is what i'm looking forward to most.

At this beta stage the server browser is crap. Doesn't arrange servers by ping at all, and displays full servers even when you tell it not to.

Does have an integrated friends list though so you can join games with friends easily. No way of favouriting a server though...

On my rig (Athlon 64 3500+, 2gb ram, Radeon X1950 Pro), it works like an absolute BEAUTY on the highest settings the demo will go. They've done an absolutely fantastic job of getting this running on modest spec systems so you won't be needing to take out a loan on buying a PC for this.

All of the weapons are back in, as far as I can tell, no new ones at all, but they've ALL received changes and overhauls. Nothing looks the same. And I personally adore the new, very elaborate weapon designs. Especially the biorifle which has since become my new favourite weapon of death and destruction.

The maps so far have been excellent, and the whole thing certainly has that 'Gears of war' feel to it, not surprisingly. Just.. a whole lot faster paced, really.

    Adrenaline system has completely gone.

In vehicle CTF, you get the option by pressing Q to bring out a hoverboard, incase you're without a pickup or a vehicle and you need to travel long distances. While you're on your board, you can't shoot, and getting hit a single time will knock you off it and disable you for a second. I believe that when you're carrying the flag, you can break out the hoverboard and hold onto the back of a vehicle (lol back to the future), but i've yet to manage that. All I saw was a lockon target appear when I was hovering, on the back of a friendly vehicle.

More to say as I play.

Ahh, no wonder. I was about to start a thread on this actually and was going to mention that, whilst the graphics were nice, the textures close up were only average.

    Here's a full screen 1920 x 1200 snap I did: LINK

Nice to get back to good old fashioned fast deathmatch though and this is looking promising.

I hated it. It just seems so aged and boring even with its pretty new graphics. I played a few games got very very bored and gave up with it.

Thats not to say it plays badly its just the same as its always been and i guess that im just bored with that style of game now.

Well it's still UT, runs super smooth with everything turned up but the indoor maps look bad compared GoW, Halo3, and Cyrsis. Outdoor CTF maps do look very good with a massive draw distance, but then the gameplay comes in. It still UT gameplay nothing be added at all outside the hover board and vehicles are just to strong vs foot, usless there's a mass of onfoot people. It doesn't feel like i have fair chance i get Halo with it vehicle destroying weapons+grenades, item drops and highjacking.

Sadly i've not had a chance to go online yet as it requires you to make login, but for some damned reason the @ key keeps bringing up the console so i can not make login with out a e-mail address... i thought i might be american based like in Half-life but the 2/" key just gives what it's suppose to on UK keyboard setting....

If DX10 support is suppose to come, then i'll hold back on my graphics judgement, but just like Halo series if you didn't like the previous installments this will do nothing to make you like the newest.

I had the same problem, just copy and paste @ in.

Also bit annoyed that it wouldn't let me use numbers in my passwords and when I did moaned about my Username containing invalid characters for some reason.

Ouenben - not sure if gamershell have it, but should only take a few seconds to find out. I used fileplanet, but I've got a subscriber account so I'm not sure what the waiting times are like at the moment.

You don't NEED an e-mail address to put in on signup.

It lets you create an account without one.

At least it did with me.

Is that green jelly weapon in the demo where you can slow someone down? That looks fun in vids I've seen.

Game is amazing when you get into a proper dedicated server, the UI feels like it was designed for a console and they need to fix that right away. Game looks and runs amazing, and now that dedicated servers are starting to appear you can actually play the game without horrendous lag.

Loving the Sniper and Link Gun, and even the Enforcer can rip people apart. Can't wait for this one to release. Added some screens here: http://ikuu.net/images/screens/

Runs at pretty much 60FPS locked everything set to max, and post-processing at Intense. I'll try and add some more screens, but I can't too drawn in and always forget to take one :P

Guessing people have been playing with the config files :P Anyway, went on to see that 128 man server and it had like 10 people on, had a really awesome game though, even managed to get me a Rampage. Loving this game so much, added some more screens, with more action this time :P

Oh and they need to add the HUMILIATION sound effect from Quake when you impact hammer people. And I do wish I had the ability to upload some videos, ala Halo 3, would love to watch those kills where you just turn around and instinctively shoot someone right in the face.
