    Lost: Via Domus

Didn't see a thread about this yet so thought I'd start it up.

Had a quick blast before I came to work today (I have the 360 version).

Obviously, as I haven't played much there's not TOO MUCH of an impression I can make out of this so far.

    Pro's -
Some of the characters look like their actual in-game selves.
Having some of the actual cast as voice actors.
The story is quite intriguing, which granted should be as it's by the writers of the series themselves.
Little things that fans would appreciate like the "Previously on Lost" segments.
Don't notice much loading at all.

    Cons -
Graphics leave a lot to be desired.
Sometimes seems like you're floating over the environment.
    Apparently very short.

Now from playing up until the end of Episode 1, the story has already grasped me, and it does make you feel like you are actually there as one of the survivors.

Feels a bit annoying having to run around and talk to people with very generic questions though. "Do you know me?" "Where are we?" Being asked to everyone you meet. Not really appropriate when one of the engines it about to explode!

I'll leave more involved impressions as I play on, and I'm sure plenty of other people will be able to put plenty of more detail in this thread than I have about the game.

Yeah just finished episode 1 just now myself, took all of 5 minutes. Surprised you didn't notice any loading, just the first episode had quite a few loading screens! From what I have played so far, I presume most of the gameplay will be lots of searching/wandering around, talking to people and solving the odd "puzzle". The manual suggests at some point you will recieve a gun but I am assuming you will not have that for long. Graphics are ok, nothing looks too terrible but they are definately not next gen. I think this will be one for the fans of the show (and achievement whores) as I can't see anyone else getting much "enjoyment" out of it.

Ive been playing it for about 2hrs, i think ive nearly finished it. The gameplay that is there, is shallow and mediocre. Basically, putting valves in to direct a flow of an electricity current and hiding from the black smoke in trees.

I think the graphics are preety awful myself, they do look like the cast members but even then they look really silly, ps2ish in places. Kate for example, doesn't look like her at all. Most of the cast is missing from doing the voice acting and it can really stick out for a lost fan. Kate and Jack especially.

Like elanial has already said, the story is true lost goodness. Ubisoft, ****ed up bigtime, the idea of a great game is there, but they totally missed out on this one. I wouldn't be playing it if it wasn't Lost. I think they should have made it a broken sword type of adventure game myself, with the Lost brand on top of it, they could have done wonders. It will sell loads anyway.

Cheap and nasty game with a good story on top for lost fans. Pick it up if your a fan, but makesure you can take it back after you have finished it.

It was about 15 minutes for Episode 1 for me as I kept going towards the engine and going boom.

If you can get past the cheap looking game, you can look at it as a puzzle solver with a great story
This is only going to be one for fans of the show.

It's already on my rental queue don't worry

Still looking forward to playing it, just not prepared to part with my hard earned for it, local Gamestation seemed fairly sure it's going to be £39.99 on the High Street, prehaps you can confirm ezee ?

                Not worth £39.99 definately.

I think I got okayish value by paying £26.99 from ShopTO (£1 recommendation credit :P)

Well it was scanning in at ?49.99 today (rip off price) but I presume head office will realise the RRP is actually ?39.99 and change it before Friday. If not you can alway price match with a nearby Woolworths or something.

Something that doesn't make sense.......sounds like they have accurately represented the series then

I'll just say, it reveals something that fans have been speculating.

Will this connect to the show completely? Like if some questions are answered will they also be true for the show at some point? I'm interested in seeing how a character that you've never seen before fits in with the show. Might rent it, sounds like it could easily be done in a day.

I've not played the game yet but the writers of Lost have gone on record saying that it is not canon. Apparently only the TV episodes and the webisodes are true canon, everything else including the Find185 ARGs are writtern by someone else.
