I've never played a DW game before, but **** me, how HARD is this?!?!! Fully expected it to be run-of-the-mill hack n' slash, how wrong was I?!?!

    Loving it though!!

Its OK until you get to an end of level officer and they really own your ass within a couple of hits!!

Seems to be an improvement over the last one. Not a huge improvement, but its a better game.

Im going to be getting this today. I myself thought DW: Gundam was sheer awesomeness, the combo attacks were something really special.

Is this out on the two main formats then? If so which one is better? As i only have one game on my ps3, dammit.

Also, in other news, duels are now the greatest thing ever. Particularly when you get both sides watching. That is all.

I always play through on easy for the first go with any character, so I can level them up a bit. Alternatively, if you ever get stuck, you can drop into free mode for a bit then back to your save in Musou mode and you'll keep the levels and items you got from free mode.

I think the game to some extent leaves it to the player to make the combat more varied. At least on the lower difficulties, you can pretty much just play the whole game using your regular attacks, but there are quite a few different attacks available if you want them - various combos of regular and power attack, counters and parries, jumping and running attacks, mounted attacks, grapples, musou and specials and so on - but you're never really forced to use them.

Thanks for the comments, the way you describe it sounds that there's a bit more depth if you actually put the effort in which I obviously didn't I think I may give this a go once this months torrent of games I want to play is over (and during the 2 - 3 week break before GTA 4)

Picked this up today, had a quick spin on it and damn, its certainly a leap above DW: Gundam and the previous iterations on the 360. They still haven't fixed the ****ty camera though, why does it have to be so low and up your guys arse...

Another Dynasty another day really. Just completed Sima Yi's musou mode, ungrinded. Jesus H-Christ that was a tackle and a half. LOVE the fact they've completely reworked some of the weapon sets, whilst at the same time disappointed. Xiahou Dun for example has lost his bloody big Scimitar in place for, what I can only describe, as the worlds biggest meat tenderiser. A 10 feet long one. Biggest improvements with the weapons though is how each character is much more distinct now, and fitting for their role. Lu Xun, also known as that-speedy-bastard from the previous games, now uses complete Tai Chi movements with a sword which compliment his erratically fast paced movements, and ones like Zhang Fei arre a true powerhouse in their own right now.

The cutscenes are -brilliant-. True direction has come into play here and each one makes you want to giggle inside.

Like Sima Yi's at the end of his campaign holding Cao Cao in place with the wires from his Gauntlets and practically taunting him before killing him and taking the throne for his own. Shows off his true sadistic side, I must say! <3

The landscapes and scenery are amazing, a big improvements from their previous Dynasty Warriors outing. Now it actually looks like your in China! Cor crikey! Everyone looks much better as well in terms of character models, though, yes, Cao Cao's goatee still prevails. Bless him.

One of the gripes I will have is about the Renbu system. Somewhat of a double edged sword this one (Literally, har har?) in the sense that it can work in your favor drastically, and against it. Some of the characters it's very rare to get into their full Renbu because one poke prevents that, so unlocking the full levels of it seems somewhat pointless at times. I very rarely had a chance to with Sima Yi, my most played character yet, because his has alot of pauses in it.

The music is as always spot on. The kind of inspirational heavy guitars and traditional chinese instruments which make you say "Hell yeah! Lets go stab people with a big sharp stick!". Love their dedication to some people's theme tunes as well, good ol' Lu Bu. (And yes, I know, WTF IS UP WITH HIS WEAPON!? =D)

Some of the characters are unbalanced which make the challenge mode pointless. Basically guys, unless your using Sun Shang Xiang or Yue Ying (The characters with bows), don't bother. You will never reach their height otherwise which is a pity. Still, top 100 with Guan Yu. Go me! *Ahem*

Even for those who disliked the previous DW games, I'd recommend this to. By far the premier of the entire series thus far.

Xiahou Dun style change is quite radical, was just playing as him whooping crowds of troops until LuBu crept in behind while i was fighting fatty and whacked me down in 1 combo .

Still wish Sun Ce had his Tonfa, totally out of place in the games and history but boy where they damn fun to use and the closest we got to a hand 2 hand user.

I know what you mean. Ling Tong's lost his Nunchaku and Cao Pi has lost his Double Sword too, which I thought were nifty additions. Notice there's no Great Sword or Rapier either? =(

Zhou Yu... his new weapon... I'm not sure whether to love or hate it. Whilst the staff IS good, can it replace the old Elder Sword? Although, that spot seems relegated to Lu Xun now.

Fah. Atleast Zhuge Liang has kept his little fan =3

Slightly off topic, does anyone know if Capcom will make any more Sengoku Basara games?

Bound to if the release of the 2D fighter they've made goes well, as the series is very over with female jp nerds(or so i've been lead to believe)

Finally got Lu Bu, and my god he's a total monster... even with the change of weapons and the lack of any quality leveling stats or insane charge moves.. just rips enemies and officers appart, the feeling of insane power has never felt this good especially onthe last battle with all the heroes on you in a right ruck(and his ending is ace to, with a mention of Xing Cai and the nanman).

Still have 3/4 officers to unlock but im find im not using ones without the goal of musou mode much. Hoping the next version will have full musou mode for everyone and proper history(in as much as it can for R3K, people dying in battles they died in if your not playing as them like DW5)
