Dr. Mario & Bacillus Extermination Wiiware

Since no one has started a thread for this I thought I would start one, for what has to be one of the greatest games ever developed puzzle wise, and an absolutely amazing wiiware online experience as well as adding the new wii specific game Bacillus extermination.

First of all the game is amzing on wii, high resolution and much more varied than the previous snes rehash on the gamecube, seeing your mii battle the viruses is awesome, and the online multiplayer is just absolutely superb, matching you aginst someone close to you in the laderboards, which are owned by japanese housewives at the moment, who have been practicing the game on their family computers for the last fifteen years, lol!!

The online multiplayer is a breeze to get into tooo, and has a comprehensive selection of games, modes etc.... as well as a comprehensive leaderboard.

The new wii part of the game is excellent, but could have done with online co op, moving the peices with the wii mote is superb, and the ability for anyone with a wiimote to join your game at any time, is absolutely superb, they can also drop in and out just to help you out, when the game gets frantic and there are peices dropping left right and centre.

It also makes the game perfect for the wiimote, and is not just tacked on, you cannot move the peices upward again with the mote which is good, and the game throws three peices at once at you once it gets going, so you have to be feircely fast with the wiimote, and it's great to have some people to help you out when the pace gets going.

Overall this is the best version of Dr mario yet, finally we have online multiplayer, the only problem with the game is the no ONLINE multiplayer in the wii specific version of the game which would have been fun, still playing it on the couch with friends is where it's at.

Overall, this is my favourite wiiware release so far and an absolute bargain at the price, it could have easily been a full retail gameimho, with a budget price of course, but wiiware has made games like this possible, now alll we need is Stage Debut and my life will be complete, and my 64dd can get a rest for a while, lol.

Anyway, for a wiiware title, I give this nine out of ten, as far as Dr mario is concerned, it's the best version yet, and the only blip is no online multiplayer is Bacillus extermination.

Just to add, that my assessment of the gamecube remake was rather unfair considering it added a four player mode and had superb GBA connectivity as well.

I just feel, the inclusion of online to Dr mario fans is something that cannot be overstated enough, it's pure and utter class.

Would be nice to see all of the puzzle collection games done on Wiiware.

*cough* The GameCube Dr. Mario (included in Nintendo Puzzle Collection) is the N64 version of Dr. Mario (called "Dr. Mario 64" if i don't mistake) . So the N64 version already had a 4 players mode.

Yes this much is true, but the Nintendo gamecube version has Gba connectivity, and also is ina higher resolution than the Nintendo 64 version, it was also never released in Japan, and I am making a direct comparison to this and the available japanese versions of the game.

Just got this today, and realised how crap i am at Dr.Mario LOL

The Bacillus mode is very fun, i found it a bit confusing at first but once i got the hang of it i started to enjoy it (more than the actual Dr.Mario game).

Haven't managed to find any other players online yet (have only tried once), but i do like the fact you can send the friend versus version of the game to people on your wii console friend list.
Shame most of my friends own PAL wiis and can't get sent the game -_-

I'll play you online mate, and you haveto play the game online at times where is is da or night in japan, so accomodate for the time difference, and it usually takes about fifteen secodns for it to find you a suitable matchup.

Pm me your friend code, and let's get playing!!
