the maple forest level is lovely, as is the koopa one wher you powerslide thru the water.

offline is the best MK since the orignal but the online elevates to a whole new level, especially the time trialing, I stuck a time in on luigi circuit with one of the big boys and really nice the way you see loads of miis of other people along a timeline (then in my case mine quite near the front).

so many nice touches in this, the slipstreaming is cool too.

couple this with galaxy & smash bros and the wii is on a bit of a roll at the moment.

Played this last night with my daughter, 8. Split screen, it was a meh for me. Fun but little more than that. I can't see myself on it again, it's just not me.

She then went on to play 3 of the cups, coming 1st in every race. First time. Is it supposed to be that easy, she's no gaming guru by any means?

That said she LOVED it, she knew most of the tracks from the DS version.

Try it online if you can. That's what will make this game a keeper...

Been playing online and it's good fun! It's mad how even without a headset you end up having your own rivals over the races

What a ruddy fantabulous game!

I really was expecting a dissappointment, but it's kind of blown me away.

I LOVE the wheel, it's so much fun to use and it's got a decent weight to it so doesn't feel cheap. Powesliding makes me feel like some sort of amazing king!

I've never played an online game of anything for more than a few minutes (just never clicked with it), but MK Wii is so fantastic online. The highest rank I managed was 4th, which was twice as satisfying than finishing first in single player...50cc at least.

I bloody love the Wii.

Wild Wing with Luigi for me. Loving it.

This is an absolutely BRILLIANT game and i'm exclusively using the Wheel at the moment. Tried two full online races and come second in both. I'll be adding my friends code soon.

As I'm sure teddymeow can verify, I'm becoming more and more of a force to be reckoned with, having claimed several consecutive 1sts now not only by remaining constantly within the top 4 of most races, but also clawing my way up from behind with the help of golden mushrooms and red shells.

Unfortunately, my current weakness is Rainbow Road - the Wii version of the course is deadly and unfortunately I've yet to unlock the cup it's a part of, so when I experienced it the first time I had no idea of the track layout, and it's so punishing

Some of the new tracks are almost like rollercoaster rides. I think the mines one is the best

This is easily the best Mario Kart i've played. I wasn't a massive fan of the older ones but this is just FUN.

Maybe it was yesterday and another blinding migrane but today Ive sat and stuck to 50cc for last hour and half and the dreaded plastic "if social services see me playing this in bed they will section me" wheel and its clicked.

I only tried mario yesterday but Ive since tried Yoshi then Wario and stuck to wario with the wheel only and after a frustating period it just started to gell. Once you get past the 4th set of cups their is some corkers in their anyway and the tracks really start to snake better and harder. The wheel is a right bitch to handle at first but once i got used to it I was grinning from ear to ear. It feels totally perfect after the learning curve and fantastic fun. In comparison I just dont like the chuck and mote for karts, totally lifeless and takes all the fun of the game from me. Its great for bikes but for me laid here counter steering with a wheel in the air is pure heaven.

Im up to 7th cup now and had some fantastic battles and I cant believe its only 50cc. Ive raced thru them on 50cc on all previous versions and always felt meh get em out of the way but on this new one even 50cc feels special now. Noticing that its not 2nd person behind you that always finishes 2nd if you win and AI isnt just targeting me. I had a cracking cup on the leaf one with me baby mario and think it was toad and it ended up Yoshi came right up from 6th to finish 2nd in the end just one point behind me winning with 50 points.

Cant believe how much of a grower this is and if its like this offline god knows how great online fun is going to be with the friends list.

Thinking of buying this but a couple of questions:

anyone tried playing the PAL version on a import Wii using a freeloader, there's some confusion about the JPN version working with freeloader.

Best place to order the Japanese Freeloader in the UK, other than codejunkies.

The game looks really good I seen a video review on youtube and I'm really happy to hear so many reports of no lag. Laggy brawl was really disappointing for me
