Hello hikers! Here is your second bonus puzzle!

If you solve it, try and get a picture of the message that flashes up on screen. I'm sure it just says "congratulations, you've unlocked a new puzzle" or something, but it could offer clues.

I've just noticed the top two options are the same as they were before, intriguing...

Also, if you find one, don't turn your DS off until you've made a note of the puzzle or taken a photo! When you turn it back on it defaults to the first one you solved, so you'll never find it again.

I've just unlocked another one with the same two top options! Picture later.

I wonder if they're all hidden here, this mode'll be over pretty quick if that's the case...

EDIT: Four now! And I got a picture of the message

Still on four, and I've only got seven possible levels to solve with those two top options remaining the same, so with eight left to find, more must be hidden!

Here's the other two levels that hold bonus puzzles that I've found so far...

And here's a photo of the message you get when you unlock a bonus level

If anyone can translate that for me, I would be grateful!

Posting on a PSP takes bloody ages!

Anyway, hiking mode is sorted, and the levels aren't hidden randomly at all. I PMd David (arada392) to ask for some translation help with the screenshots above, and he got back to me with this:

...a quick scan of those screenshots suggests that you're unlocking different levels based on the storylines of the chapters in the main mode. (The screenshots in the post that you linked to in your PM show two episodes: <Uncle> <And> <Ghost> and <Uncle> <And> <King of the Deep>.)
That sounded very likely, with there being twelve hidden levels and twelve stages in the main story mode, but at the same time it'd be impossible for me to work out because I don't speak Japanese. How on earth will I find <Salad> <And> <Cake>! So, square one!

Then I had a look at the story mode, and in the level select screen the passwords are right bloody there! The name of each level can be input into hiking mode in its entirety, and doing so grants you a level that unlocks a bonus level. I imagine that if I was a Japanese speaker I'd have seen this fairly soon, but no, I've solved nearly 100 puzzles in hiking mode now to get to this point!

Many thanks to David, and if you were implying in your PM that I should check this level select screen, all credit goes to you!

It's only a matter of time, now...

All twelve bonus puzzles are unlocked - though it might be only me that cares, if the amount of posts I've made in a row is anything to go by

The pattern was exactly as I'd anticipated, apart from number seven which doesn't really give you any name for the level apart from what I assume is "hiking." To unlock that one, I just used that same word in the top and bottom choices, with は in the middle, and it worked - lucky guess! The rest though are unlocked simply with the chapter title.

Now I've got these twelve (ten now) to beat and I imagine something more exciting than my brain can even comprehend will happen. A few of them look really tough at first glance, though.

              Is anyone excited? Heh

And so, we come to the end of our hike. With all twelve puzzles found it but remained to solve them, and solve them I did. An amazing unlockable was expected, but what was it to be? A new difficulty level? Some new songs? Some new puzzles? Concept art? A cash reward?

                    Nothing, not even a congratulations!

But it was fun, it was an extra 12 (+101) puzzles to solve which were fairly hard, though not as hard as the later ones in story mode. With this game, I could probably play it forever so the more content the better.

Awesome stuff and anyone that still hasn't bought it: you suck!

I've missed all your progress due to the forum not emailing me even though I have instant notification switched on (grr!), but that's great work and sort of obvious if you put 2 and 2 together like you finally did, but it's so easy to miss for a non-Japanese speaker. David comes to the rescue yet again
So what are the other 3188 hiking levels for? Just for fun? I'm actually stuck on 'Salad to [5th option if Salad is 1st]'. This game loves messing with my head.
I'm also still none the wiser on Hard 1-7 :-D
Anyway, nice one, well done, now get cracking on the other 3100 levels

I've tried to look this up, but found nothing; why is the title of this game romanised as Loopop Cube when it should be Lupupu Cube? Where's this pop coming from?

Who knows what the other hiking levels are for, it does seem a bit odd that the levels were so easy to find in the end, I actually think I preferred it when we thought they were just random

There's definitely no new options though since solving the mysterious 12, so it doesn't look like there's anything else hiding away in this mode. I guess the only way to be sure is to take those 3188 puzzles and solve every sing- that's too much, even for me!

The next step: delete all my data and start the game again

I can't answer why it's been done like that elsewhere, but I refer to it as that here because that's what it's known as on Play-Asia, so it made the most sense for people that would be searching to buy it.

The cubes do pop when you join them up though, maybe that's it

30 quid? Blimey. Well worth the money though.

Toythatkills: Have you tried solving another set of 'to' puzzles with a different choice at the top option?

I'm not really sure what you mean...

I didn't solve any "sets" of puzzles, just 101 random ones in the end
