that's no excuse - if it was meant to be one

Bad Company was marketed as the first Battlefied game with a compelling story and satisfying single player experience. and most of all it had the potential to be just that because the dev team, the engine and the first footage looked all very promising.

the multiplayer sure is nice for the occasional hour of mindless running and gunning if you can cope with a certain level of frustration. but my friends and me prefer more tactical and team based shooters when spending time online.

with still no new Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six game announced i am having my eyes now on Operation Flashpoint 2 and the new game from the dev team that made the original.

After a break from the game, I finally got round to finishing the campain last night.

It's an OK game, but if they had fixed the AI and added coop it could have been great.

What's delivered feels like a tech demo, without the soul of decent SP game. The levels seem somewhat repetative and to be honest half way through I got bored!

There are some great sides too. Visuals, Frostbite and the sound. I think this game has the best sound of any shooter to date.

What could have saved the game is Coop. These simple levels remind me of GRAW coop maps, and it would have been superb to blast away with Grawsome.

Online is very good though. The new conquest mode finally brings a BF2 game to the 360, and it's great fun. I do enjoy the sense of being on a battlefield with a myriad of players causing destruction.

Anyway, an OK game, but a wasted oppertunity.

      I guess it's worth a 6.

Picked this up on the cheap due to a lot of generally positive Battlefield comments on this board (and the fact I liked the multiplayer on MOH). This game is what, 3/4 years old, it shows it. Not the most attractive game visually. Overall I enjoyed the single player experience for what it was. Dug the Kelly's Heroes type theme going on. Yes AI was very dumb and it had the same ****tiness displayed in COD games in that the enemy immediately concentrate on you and you alone from about 2 miles away when you are hidden in the bushes. However despite this I liked it. Nowhere near as good in the SP as the 2 most recent COD games I just played (MW2 and BLOPS), however due to its age, I didn't expect it would be.

Multiplayer, now that was a revelation. A lot slower and far more tactical depth than the aforementioned COD games, with the addition of vehicles which was cool. Not to say its not without fault, far from it. But I suppose comparing this multiplayer with COD is like chalk and cheese, but I think this style of multiplayer is more up my alley.

I'm not going to spend a lot more time on multiplayer on this title as I expect BFBC2 (which I also got on the cheap and will be playing next) will hopefully be more polished and have more players still playing online.

        A solid par - 5/10 for me.

Are there many people still playing BC1 online, did you encounter any problems finding matches?

I never had any trouble finding a game, most people I played with and against were all high level seasoned veterans, however there were also quite a few noobs such as myself.
