    G1 Jockey 2008 (PS3)

I got this game at the weekend and have been playing it non-stop. Just like other games such as Pro Evo, it has that 'just one more game' quality to it, or in this case 'one more race'.

The game is essentially the same as G1 Jockey 4 on the PlayStation 2. You start out in mock races at riding school, before starting your career as a jockey. The game is text heavy, with plenty of dialogue between yourself and the trainers, as well as other jockeys. You can also breed horses to race in the future.

There is a new control method where you tilt the controller forwards to drive the horse, pull back to jump fences and restrain the horse, as well as tilting to either side to whip. However, I found this quite difficult and quickly went back to using the analog sticks.

One of the best things about the game is that each race is different as your horse will prefer different strategies depending on the conditions and distance, but it can be very hard in the beginning and took me quite a few races to get used to how different horses race.

Has anyone else bought this game yet and has any tips to share? I have not seen a single review for it or much mention of the game on the internet.

I tried the demo of this month's back, and like a lot of people (I think) couldn't figure out how to control the horse, am positive I tried the sticks, pad and everything. Needless to say after two minutes of trying gave up. It did look good must admit.

I haven't tried the demo, but the default controls on the full game are mainly using the analog sticks. You pull both back together to jump, push both forward together to drive, and move the left stick left and the right stick right to steer. You can then whip with left on the d-pad and the circle button. It does take a lot of getting used to though!

Saw it Gamestation near work, so yes.

Might pick this up when it gets a little cheaper as it has a certain appeal.
