Finally looking to pick this up, are both versions about the same?

Can't decide whether to go for PS3 for continuity or 360 for the acheivements!

      Blargh!

The only decent ones were Judgement and Intensive Care - the latter being the one which most fitted in with the game's mood and made the most sense. But then I always was a sucker for the Water ending in No 2 which was just as bleak.
The thing I don't like about the conditions to get the endings is that you could very easily get the UFO ending through regular play which would've pissed me off big time had I done it.

To get Silly endings you should know you're doing someone above and beyond

Played all the Silent Hills and loved them.

        Played this - liked it.

This is by far the worst Silent Hill game there is.

...and I got the UFO ending first time. STUPID.

ps. Can I get Silent Hill collectibles anywhere? Figures, art etc etc?

I just don't understand what they were thinking with the UFO ending. You simply don't let someone get a joke ending unless they're actively seeking it or doing something above and beyond.

The choices required for it aren't even that irregular

rescue the cop and get revenge on your parents

. It was just a spectacularly bad decision by the developers. A joke ending isn't funny if you've spent 15-20 hours playing through a game trying to see how the story is resolved.

Mega late to this party but started playing this last night after finally picking up the Ps3 version for a paltry sum.

            Must same I'm quite impressed.
The atmosphere is there the sound is amazing in Dolby Digital & I've shat myself about a million times already & that's mostly thanks to the immense use of audio...when I last played a Hill game on the PS2 I didn't have the benefit of surround sound but now I do it adds so much to the experience.

Just the first time you venture into the garden & hear the dog around you was enough to make me drop the controller.

Really looking forward to getting through this...crap endings or not I'm going to enjoy this baby

Definitely need me some Shattered Memories on the Wii now too

To me Shattered memories is a far superior game. SHH is a perfectly fine game but the entire thing feels like an homage in a series that was praised for its creativity.

Got this for ?3.49 the other day, been playing the last hour or two, finding it tremendously enjoyable (though the uninvertable Y Axis for 'standard' camera movement is a PAIN IN THE F*CKING ARSE!!!!!!! - surely if they could invert the gun aim for vertical invert gamers, they could've used a bit of logic and also amended the vert invert for the camera, given that they already acknowledge the existence of vert invert gamers with the combat aim option??? Insane.)

Anyway, graphics are underwhelming, the grain filter dumbs down definition a tad, frame rate incredibly choppy at certain moments (like visiting your mum's house) but I am surprised by the strength of the vibe so far. Am on the cemetery bit right now, level of eeriness is very high, I like this. Was expecting a mediocre approximation of the original by foreign programmers, instead get a very respectful homage (so far, at least), plus the music/sound fx (given the tunes are by the original composer) are absolute quality, verrrry Silent Hill. Game feels like it's got legs, which is nice.

One thing that irks/disturbs, however: the characters all seem to sport 'horse teeth', when they speak in the cutscenes you witness a savage amount of mouth-boneage, it's like Dennis Waterman grinning at you all the time, not good.

Very late to the party with this one, but I sit next to a guy who was working on the new Silent Hill, so found myself compelled to delve into this!

I am loving it. It certainly isn't a classic Silent Hill, as others as said, however i am enjoying this a lot more than 3. Not as disturbing as 1 and 2, but the tension and soundtrack is just as good. All the flaws about the graphics, controls etc are easily forgivable. In fact, I actually think it looks quite nice - the wooden animations, bland textures etc add to the atmosphere - and there's some lovely lighting effects. There's some very clever level design in here too, had me smiling in appreciation on many occasions.

This has indeed got me VERY excited for Downpour! Pleasantly impressed :-)
