Oh man, i am still unsure on this game especially since i dont really like beat em ups, but i got a voucher today from GAME worth $40, so thats like half the game almost. Oh man, what to do. People with the game, do you reccomend it to someone who isn't really into fighters, and will not be purchasing an arcade stick? I would just use the dual shock.

Did you like the original SF2? I think thats as close approximation you will get to this game.

I should imagine you will be fine with the dual shock short term. Its not great but unlike the 360 pad it should be good enough to give you an idea on whether you will really get into the game or not.

received my copy yesterday, the intro is gorgeous , and the ingame graphics are absolutely stunning. haven't played a SF game since the good old SF Alpha2 so I already noticed I need A LOT of practice again. I have no idea yet how to make best use of the focus attack and the cancelling of spec moves.... I just realised I'm a total beginner again..

Haven't received my fightpads yet, but after playing it with the 360 pad (what I can't recommend to anyone) I'm thinking more and more about getting the fightstick....

If you don't like beat em ups then I'd definately see if you can try before you buy. Borrow from a friend or rent it. The hype train is moving fast and looks lovely. The game is a real treat to those who have loved the previous games in the series. Could be a pile of plop to people who don't like fighters

A quick question. The 'xx' I'm seeing a lot in the combo lists - what do these denote? I'm thinking that the moves are linked, but just want some confirmation ta.

Is this the right thread to ask about region compatibility? UK or US 360 version on a Jpn 360?

                  Thanks ne0star

They are all region free apparently.

Yup, I'm playing the PAL version an Asian machine.

I've had difficulty getting into ranked matches, I keep getting kicked from the lobby or unable to join messages. The only way I could get ranked matches consistently was by allowing challenges in arcade mode.

Oh, and Seth is a cheap ****.

Anyone try out their costume code on xbox live they got with their PAL CE? Mine doesn't work... Just wondering if its the case for everyone else.

I would imagine that becomes available on the official release date, no?

Okay, more detailed first impressions. I can tell there's still a lot for me to learn, which is definitely a good thing.

Using the focus attack in a really basic way, if you time it right it's a good way to soak up a single hit you're expecting can't be linked, and guard break in return. Didn't notice straight away but used like this, the damage you take from the single hit recovers after time too - awesome. Cancelling with it is a whole different kettle of fish, but have already seen how it's the key to some big combos. Super cancels seem pretty straightforward, and don't seem to be damage limited too much either which is nice. Bit surprised though at how much charge they need - 4 ex's or super seems crazy in my mind, especially when the revenge meter (used for Ultras) seems to rocket it's way up in an evenly-fought fight...

Not sure I like how 'silly' some of the new characters are, but they seem to play pretty well. I wanted to pick up Abel, and from a quick bit of play he feels like a cross between Fei Long and Alex - in 3S Alex is my lad, so this is good news. Still think Rufus looks like a dick, Feutre is crazy with his Vega-esque bouncing, and his dialogue is a bit crap, but Viper actually looks quite decent, even if her area of effect type specials seem quite unlike typical SF moves.

Arcade mode feels really polished. Anime intros and endings, a nice little dramatic battle (with some in-fight dialogue), and some really fresh new AI. I notice a few people have already levied complaints at Seth but IMO he's not that bad - he's obviously a huge step up for those coming from SF2 where Bison isn't anything special, but compared with Gill in 3S, or any KOF game he's a bit of a pussycat.

Really, really digging all of the CS stuff too. The UI is gorgeous, the challenge modes seem good (they remind me of SFEX+@, which unlike most I actually liked), and online seems to work pretty well. Will be interesting to see how battle points turn out in the end, so far I'm 10 for 10 ranked games so I'm not sure how well it balances out your wins/losses.

TE stick should arrive today, and have got some guys from here coming round for a proper session on this on Saturday. Can't wait. SF mania all over again!
