Ragdoll Kung-Fu: Fists of Plastic [PSN]

It's the follow up to the PC game Ragdoll Kung-Fu which was made by Mark Healey who at the time worked for Lionhead Studios.

Mark Healey was the co-creator of Media Molecule, most people will know that they created LittleBigPlanet on the PS3. Although I've only spent about 15 minutes playing the game I can't help but feel that it should really be called LittleBigFistsOfPlastic due to how the game feels.

As far as I can tell it uses the LBP game engine and looks as gorgeous as that game did.

    DEBUT TRAILER

You can play with up to four players at a time but it's looking like it's offline only at the moment which'll hopefully change some time.

There's 9 different levels available from the start and 4 multi-player game modes which are Deathmatch, King of The Hill, Capture The Fish & Dodgeball.

    SMASH GAMEPLAY

The single player game consists of a tutorial and a Challenge Mode. I've not seen many of the challenges the challenges but they've consisted beat the crap out of a load of people and then beat the boss.

You can also play the multi-player sections on your own with up to three other AI controlled characters in the match.

What looks like it's going to be a big part of this is the Character Editor are as just like LBP there seems to be loads of costumes and characters to unlock. LBP had a character pack released today with the characters from this game included and it seems inevitable that we'll end up with Sackboys in this eventually.

    CHARACTER MONTAGE

The combat isn't going to be comparable with Street Fighter IV when it comes down to deth of play but there does seem to enough moves to kep it entertaining. And after the dragging people around and the hell out of mates in LBP, that's about al you need.

You can do the same dragging and slapping moves in this but you can also pick people and objects up then throw them. They tend to go right across the screen when you do that too.

In the levels I've seen things like windmills which allow you to grab hold of the sails and spin around exactly like you would in LBP. There are some special fireball type moves too and you can pick up weapons which swing your arms around independantly using the sticks while holding down R2 or L2.

The music, just like LBP fits in perfectly wth the game and had me smiling straight away.

Just bought this and had a quick play.

For some reason i thought this would have had online play, which is pretty much the reason why i bought it, but as far as i can tell it doesnt...Pretty dissapointing.

Also i think the controls are far too fiddly. All the standard stuff like punching/kicking/jumping are ok but having to jolt the pad to do special moves or turning the pad upside down to meditate...

It does seem like a decent game though, just woulda been better if they included online and a choice to choose to config controls without motion sensing would have been nice.

For those who missed it this is now free to download off the US store for a limited period.

It was pretty fiddly at first but I'm pretty impressed with the motion controls they have implemented - I didn't know they could be as versatile as this.. picking up and 'throwing down' the controller to do a slam move is very natural.

That survival challenge is doing my head in! Hopefully I'll get a go of multiplayer as I expect that's where this comes alive.

I bought this when it came out and messed about with it. I can see why it's been selected for the free game promotion. To be honest, it's pretty awful. There's a fun Smash bros style game buried in there somewhere but it's ruined by a series of terrible developer decisions not least including no online and motion controls.

The lack of online is terrible, really kills it. I can't understand why they left it out either.

Oh, no online at all? Downloaded it last night, but I guess I won't even bother installing.
