Any recommendations or complaints on either guitar available?

I might pick one up this week, probably the Rickenbacker, but still not 100% decided.

I think the Gretsch is the best of them, although the edges are quite sharp which can be a problem depending how you play.

They are all good, but I find the Rickenbacker too wide and the Hofner too narrow. The Hofner is a nice shape otherwise, although the neck feels long because the body is quite small. The Rickenbacker does look nice and uncluttered, and has more rounded edges.

The white inset painted marks on the Gretsch fret buttons are the nicest to my eyes though, and I really like the pick guard and the whammy bar cover.

My sister got me this for my birthday but we didnt have any instruments available at the time, except for a USB microphone...singing ensued. I had never sung (Karaoke style) in my life until this Lots of fun!

I actually think it's an outrageous price though, sadly!

Abbey Road will arrive first on October 20 at a price of $16.98 (1360)
                  Abbey Road:
                  • "Come Together" On the disc
                  • "Something" On the disc
                  • "Maxwell's Silver Hammer"
                  • "Oh! Darling"
                  • "Octopus's Garden" On the disc
                  • "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" On the disc
                  • "Here Comes The Sun" On the disc
                  • "Because" Mainly vocals
                  • "You Never Give Me Your Money"
                  • "Sun King"
                  • "Mean Mr. Mustard"
                  • "Polythene Pam"
                  • "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window"
                  • "Golden Slumbers" Mainly Piano
                  • "Carry That Weight"
                  • "The End" On the disc
                  • "Her Majesty" Less than 60 seconds long, no bass or drums
Don't get me wrong, I'll be buying it, but it's a disgusting price really imho.

I dunno about that. I consider something a good price based on what I get from it, not what it costs to make. I'm going to get so much enjoyment from the medley, I'm happy with that price (I'm happy it's coming out at all).

If you view value as how much effort it takes to make something (which is completely wrong imo unless you live in a communist state) then you're getting eleven new songs plus the ability to play the medley continuously for a fair chunk less than it would cost to buy them seperately at 160 points each.

Plus Harmonix have stated that producing each Beatles song is considerably more work than other DLC.

Just because The Beatles are in Rock Band, that doesn't mean every single Beatles album will be in Rock Band as downloadable content. Why, you ask, well here is why.

The fact that they announced those 3 albums before the game even came out says to me they already had done those 3 albums, already done the work, and decided to hold it back.

As I say, I'm happy I'm getting and will play it loads, but I thnk of the three, that album should have been cheaper.

Nobody seems to care much apart from us Brats, but...

Two days til Abbey Road DLC

Points primed and ready. Can't wait!

I love games like this though, it just keeps giving and giving. I've completed guitar and vocal harmony careers (got 1 million points achievement) and am half way through bass and haven't even touched the drums on this game yet.

I've got hardly any achievements on this, mainly because I play it with my daughter - she's on main vocals and I'm on guitar and harmonies. She's also trying to learn the drums and doing okay for a nine year old.

Invariably my wife joins in too, which is practically un heard of in our house. It is the family game. Can't wait for more DLC (my wife loves Oh Darling!).

Agreed, it's the family game for us too.

I'm a guitarist/vocalist in "real life" and play a bit of everything else, but I've always found myself gravitating to guitar in games, but recently I've gone to vocals, doing harmonies with my wife.

My four year old is the coolest kid in school for my money, he's constantly singing bits of Beatles songs.

                            "Beep Beep Beep Beep YEAH!"

                              That's brilliant!

My daughter's loved the Beatles since she understood what music was. For her birthday this year, she asked for a signed photo of John Lennon over any thing else .

I literally never know what song he's gonna come out singing! The other day it was "I'M GLAD ITS YOUR BIRTHDAY!!!!!" yesterday he was sat in the car going "shoot me...dododooooo, shootme dododooooo" and this morning it's "...and in the end, the love you take...is equal to the love you make" which is just soooooo cool.

Every time we get in the car "Can I have the Beatles please".

The coolest four year old there is! Mind you, he's also started playing guitar and piano, though he's always joined in with me when I play guitar! Dropped my acoustic to Open C tuning so it would be more tuneful when he strummed and bugger me if he doesn't start trying to fret the strings like a barre chord!

Hehe, as I'm typing he's in the background "Hey la, Hey la lo la, woo-ooo"
