    Tekken 6 Ps3/360

I've received the CE with the Hoodie, Poster and artbook. Very good CE, the outside box is amazing. The Hoodie, actually wearing it right now... slightly too short for me though. But its pretty thick quality it seems.

The game box is PS3 new style logo, the manual doesn't even fit in... I reckon the stand alone version will be sold with a carton box?

The game itself looks good, the intro with its music is ace, typical Namco from better times. But after that, a demonstration fight loads and my god... the loading... its horrible. What the hell man, this is a port from an Arcade PS3... this has something to do with the game going multiplatform or so?

I've installed it, 4 gigs. Doesn't take that long though.

I play it with TE stick, good gameplay. Tekken 5 but somewhat faster. The scenario campaign is being labeled as the main mode, which is kind of lame imo. Tekken is a 1 vs 1 fighter.

It seems that there is no online mode yet, all I have is Offline Mode and Scenario Campaign. So can't say anything about that. I figure Namco adds it on the street date?

Not being the biggest fan of the genre, or very good at it, Street Fighter and Tekken are generally the only two fighters I ever play, but I have to ask....

Reservations about it being classed as the main mode aside, is the campaign any good? It looks decent enough in the videos ive seen and it might actualy sell me on the game if its more than a mild distraction.

I actually like the Campaign. Lets say I expected worse thanks to the reviews. In the beginning its seriously rivaling MGS in terms of cutscenes... I'd say you'll be watching about 20 mins before you actually play

You can free roam the stages (which are as straightforward as SoR), and when opponents enter the scene, you'll go into a fighting stance with auto lockon. You can switch targets by pressing a certain button.

You'll start as Lars accompanied by Alicia(?), but you can unlock all other chars and choose them for the action stages.

I wouldn't buy the game for it though. Tekken is a fighter after all. Luckily there is a proper Arcade Mode (take that Broken Destiny!) which is so proper that there is no ending FMV either and the Nancy bonus stage is as cheap as ever. Just like the coin op. Within Scenario Campaign worldmap, there is an Arena and this is an arcade mode with ending. Team Battle and whatnot is all covered too. Your progress is being displayed on the main menu nicely. ie. 'Armor King promoted to 6th Kyu'. I like the overall presentation.

Install, btw, does make quite the difference. Lets hope everyone does it so that you won't get SFIV online shenanigans.

        Thanks for the impressions,

how long does it take to load a match with install? also what are the graphics saying in terms of resolution?

I've pre-ordered the PS3 version but if it looks too soft than I might switch to 360 with motion blur off. Some other people are saying the scenario mode is a real grind what do you reckon now that you have played for a while?

To be honest your initial impressions have some what put me off so I may even cancel .

Load times are okay after the install. I'd say about 5-7 seconds before a fight starts. About on par with BlazBlue I think.

The Ps3 version is supposed to be superior to the 360 version. Comparison results voted the Ps3 as the winner (Ps3 Motion blur on is supposed to own any 360 version setting), and the Blu Ray space is actually being used for higher quality CGI. The DS3 is obviously better too, although I play it with TE stick.

Scenario, still like it. About 3 hours in maybe. Its mindless fun and its the quickest way to earn cash. You'll find lots of items too. Customizing in this game rocks but some items are expensive, I've made a very hot Asuka with tight jeans and top, but a sexy high ponytail will cost me a million though

The game itself, its on the way to beat Dark Resurrection for me. I'm cool with Rage, it kicks in when there is 5% left, so chances that it will kick in during a finishing combo are high. Or a simple sweep will end them. Bounce is okay too, adds combo potential. I can do a few decent combos with Kaz now. I'm having a blast with this game, addicted to it right now. 42 chars to play with and hardly any fillers. I've tried Bob, Zafina, Alisa etc.. they were all fun to play with. My mains Armor King and Kazuya seem to have been upgraded by quite a bit, yeah i'm.. ahem... cool with Tekken 6. Trophies are very fun to get too, Platinum seems to be an easy target for the average Tekken fan.

Still waiting for the online patch. Scenario is also supposed to be playable via online co-op.

How many characters are locked at the start, and how do you unlock them?

AFAIK all the characters are unlocked from the start. You unlock stuff like costume customization items instead.

Is there a link to this information. I was planning on going 360 but seeing the above confirmed would sway me.

                    here's a poster+box pic:"

By the way, Everyone is unlocked... Scenario campaign excluded. Every fighter serves as a stage boss there. Beat him, and you can select him for the stages. After the 1st stage, you can choose one character to start with if Lars is not your thing. He will simply be in the cutscenes, story is about him.

Its a carbon copy of the coin op Bloodline, which was 576p+motion blur too.

                    sdtekken:

One thing that is admirable is that there’s also obvious evidence of Namco making use of the extra space on the Blu-ray disc. Tekken 6 data weighs in at around 20GB. Bearing in mind the size of the install, it’s fair to assume that the rendered movies get the benefit here. That said, in the Tekken Force “Scenario Mode”, cut-scenes are generally engine-driven using in-game assets, running at 60FPS on both consoles and are of essentially equal quality. Intro and ending movies tend to get the full-on CG treatment beloved of the Tekken series, and it’s good to know that Namco-Bandai has taken a zero compromise approach to them, using the maximum bandwidth available that the freedom of a 25GB Blu-ray disc offers.
For the rest, Tekken = Playstation imo.

anyone played the pal ps3 version on a sdtv (50hz locked)? been looking online for ages to know if it plays slower or skips frames like sf4 does. got the 360 version just to be sure, but I'm interested in how the game is on this setup. great game overall: all characters feel even more different now (new characters even more so), solid gameplay and customisation is nice.

I didn't realize Pal PS3 SF4 played any differently on a SDTV. I've never noticed any differences in speed in Pal SC4 or VF5 in SD either when compared to arcade/HDTV. On the PS1 and 2 slower gameplay was very obvious in 50hz compared to NTSC and arcade versions.

I should be receiving Tekken 6 in a couple of days to test that out again.

Can somebody confirm the UK release date for me? I thought it was the 30th but the Tekken 6 site mentions the 27th, I presumed that was for the US?

Yep, 30th in the UK. Although that might obviously be bent a little bit by online retailers

really anticipating this, but im hearing bad things about the online mode, apparently worse then SC4 which is surely unnaceptable!

                              Anyone tried it yet?
