I really don't get this rip-off load of tosh . That's like saying SOR is crap because its a Final Fight rip-off, that the Fatal Fury series is rubbish , because its a Street Fighter Rip-off, or that the likes of Dead Space shouldn't be considered , because its a Rip off of Resident Evil,

I couldn't careless about issues like that these days , and more interested in what the game plays like , and I quit enjoyed it . Yes in parts it looks like a PS2 game , with simple models and textures , but then in others its looks quite spectacular , and plays nice and smooth , I think its quite a enjoyable demo myself

None of those games you mentioned are as obviously influenced by what came before them as Dante's Inferno appears to be by God of War. It's just as stupid to suggest you can't or shouldn't ever say something's a ripoff because 'nothing's original'. There are parts of the demo which are largely just re-skins of identical sequences from other games. Doesn't mean you can't enjoy them nonetheless, if they're done well (which they are, IMO, just not that well) - but it's still worth mentioning.

I'm amazed that EA are happy to be as close to the knuckle with Christian iconography as they have been with this - I was half-expecting Beatrice to have a crucifix stuffed up her arse when you find her dead.

Given their PR for it so far, are you really that surprised?

C'Mon SOR was a direct and total rip off of Final Fight , as was Deep Fear off Resident Evil , and I say that as a SEGA fan.
Dead Space was more or less RE 4 in Space and let people seemed to love that , never mind the Dead or Alive or Tekkens , which were Virtual Fighter Rip-off's

Remember this is just a demo too , far from the finished game , and its plays not far off the GOD III demo imo

It is mega derivative, but then so was Conan, and I enjoyed that. But then there's no GoW equivalent on 360.

The GoW3 demo impressed me MUCH more than the DI demo did. And you can assume that the DI demo will be identical to the full game while an ancient build is usually heavily subject to change (as was the case with Lost Planet 1, Motorstorm 2 etc). I expect improvements regarding the framerate and lighting in GoW3 but, GoW in its current stage is already superior to me.

Sure that DoA and Tekken took elements from VF, but they play and look completely different. The same goes for DF and SoR compared to RE and FF. I think there is rip-off and rip-off. Dante's Inferno is to GoW what Simpsons road rage was to Crazy Taxi. Its blatant, too obvious. Even more obvious due to the same kind of settings and atmosphere.

For 360 gamers its no problem. But Ps3 gamers have a wider choice regarding this genre. Thanks to high profile 1st party IP God of War.

I agree with this really, Unless you only have a 360 (or are a massive fan of the devine comedy) theres not much point in this game youd think.

Maybe it will feel more worthwhile when everyone has completed GOW 3 and wants more of the same, at which time a copy of this will no doubt be quite cheap to obtain you would think.

DOA looked almost exactly like VF II , even on the Saturn , and played a hell of a lot like VF too . Dead Space played almost exactly like RE 4, like Deep Fear played a hell of a lot like RE, and SEGA GT was a shameless rip off of GT.
I got over things like that now , all I care about is if the game is good or not

I can only talk for myself , and quite enjoyed the demo , and looking forward to the game , as I am with the new Castlevania , which is another GOW styled game . I;m not saying these are day one purchases, but I'm looking forward to them no the less

I don't think many students of the canon of Dante Alighieri will be playing a game where Beatrice's tits flop out at every opportunity and Dante has a crucifix stitched into his skin

Dead space had simular mechanics to resident evil, but besides that it was quite different. DOA does not play anything like Virtua Fighter.

I think the main problem people are having with this is that this is SO MUCH like GOW, everything from the way you collect health, to the way you open doors, to the look and feel of the combat, its like the developers hardly tried to give the game its own identity, which is a shame really, as it does seem to be quite fun. Alot of people just cant affoard to buy every game that comes out and so i imagine that, unless all they only buy God Of War type games then this will be low down on most peoples lists. ALso, its not just GOW it rips off, from what i have seen so far it gets pretty much all its ideas from other games (the unholy/holy upgrade system seems to be rripped stright out of InFamous for instance), and they have all been done better before.

As for Castlevania, I havent actualy played it so I cnat say either way, but i would imagine the level structure and typical castlevania feel will be enough to give that game its own identity.

Out of those games, only Sega GT fits the bill. Thats indeed a shameless copy of GT. And exactly why I couldn't really take Sega GT seriously. Simply because I owned the superior Gran Turismo too, which had better gameplay and more to offer.

Castlevania looks a lot like GoW too. But it might turn out to be really different. If it doesn't have the exact same dodge, grabs, counters and item chests/open door controls... it will be already quite a lot different to God of War than DI is so far

Come on EA your taking the piss slightly now arn't you?, its like they simply re skinned god of war 1.

Its all exactly the same, exactly!! utterly ludicrous.

And i expected more from the Dead Space 1 team quite frankly, although i highly suspect the core talent was shipped to other studios long ago, doomed to make endless sequels.

I think most of the Dead Space team are making Dead Space 2.

I have a sneaky suspicion that a lot of the team behind this were responsible for the Simpsons game from a couple of years back.
