    Coropata DS JPN

Been playing this for a few hours so far this morning, pretty fun game but be warned its hard hard haaaard.

For those who don't know what this game is, it's basically a japanese reworking of a rather old western pc game called the incredible machine. There is already a incredible machine game out on the ds but this games does it differently by adding the main character in the game into the stage so it becomes a lot different to play. But if you have played incredible machine before you will know what to expect.

The story is pretty much filler Himawari chan is given an errand to deliver a daikon radish to to her dad (lol er ok) quite why her dad wants a huge radish i have yet to find out, but on the way you meet other people including your friends.

Ok in the stages you have a list of items you can use to help assist her reaching the goal and the goal is reached by either getting Himawari chan to the marked goal area (usually a character is there waiting like her dad or a friend) or by activating the stars that are dotted in the level or by getting a ball into a basket or getting the radish on the level a mixture of all 4.

Getting Himawari to do things depends on the mood & strength meters on the top screen, if her strength is too low she can't push certain items & she can't run up slopes, also it will affect her interactions with other things too, in some of the puzzles your given food to keep her strength up, these have to be strategically placed in the puzzle so she has enough strength to do the next bit.

Also theres items like banana skins that piss her off, theres one puzzle with a ball that you need her to kick it instead of throwing it like she will normally do, you have to place the banana in front of the ball to make her fall & get mad so she does the correct action. from what i can see theres space for 128 levels, currently stuck on level 9, im nearly there but i need to work out what to do with the fan.

Anyway once you have placed all the items in the level you then press the play button & watch it all work out (or not), if you did it wrong you can press stop & tweak the items & try again you are not penalized in any way for retrying theres no time limits to stick to, some items can be rotated or flipped adding to the complexity of some puzzles. The game also uses the wifi connection too but i havent tested it out yet, the manual mentions that you can download new levels, i wonder if it will let you design your own hmmm that would be cool.

Graphics are nicely animated, music is equally as cheery, the language barrier is pretty simple everythings easy to navigate, however at the start of each puzzle your given a small bit of text telling you the objective of the level, obviously that will make things a bit harder but not that bad so far (as of yet, but not sure just how much it will matter when the puzzles get really complex later on) so far so good, another nice interesting game for the ds that will slip by & be lost in the sea of crap thats out there, so for those puzzle lovers i recommend you go hunting for a copy you'll like it a lot

Hope this gets localised, I like this kind of puzzle game, Mario & DK march of the minis was too easy and repetative for my liking.

Well if you want to do a quick GameFAQs style translation guide of all the level objectives, feel free

Got this on the way from P-A, it didn't review very well in Famitsu so I hope it's closer to your impressions than theirs!

I might be able to whip up some form of translation but the kanji slow me down.

Curious to know what famitsu rated it at as it's not that bad a game from what i could tell so far. Sometimes the politics of famitsu is suspect at times.

There is one thing that i have noticed & thats the fact you can repeat the exact same puzzle. Use the same correct solution you used before & have it fail. The physics of the items are not the same unless you place the items pixel perfect where you did the last time you solved it however i have found adjusting as you go solves this problem, sort of if you drop a ball onto a round log theres a chance it could roll left or right, so you need to adjust the log until it goes in the direction you want, that sort of thing. Hardly game breaking so far thankfully.

Past level 9 now on 11

7, 6, 5, 7. So not terrible or owt, but 25/40 is one of the lowest scores I've ever seen them give, I think

Well i have played far worse games than this thats for sure, i wouldn't set too much by famitsu's harsh rankings.

Just curious what did they give tomodatchi collection?

Well puzzle 11 finally was cracked, sneaky there might be different ways to solve the puzzles as i still had a few items left over, im wondering if my was was the correct solution.

Anyway currently flummoxed by number 12 i have 2 dominoes & a rice ball, i can make a bridge for the second gap but i cant get her over the first i have no idea as of yet how to do this one (pulls out hair)

I found out that you can download 65 extra levels according to the website, lol i'll be happy just clearing the ones on the cart at the moment.

Famitsu scored Tomodachi Collection 29 out of 40.

Looks like the downloads don't go live until February, and are updated every Friday.

Been playing this a bit and it's fun! Up to level 8 and it hasn't been too much trouble so far, but I've only had one or two items to play with so there's not been a great deal of different combinations to try.

Unfortunately, there seem to be problems too. One level I had to throw a basketball and she kept walking up to it, pausing, and then carrying on walking rather than picking it up and throwing it. I can't see any reason why that happened, and it worked when I tried again. Could cause huge problems later though when you think a solution hasn't worked but you've actually got it right, the game just didn't perform it right.

Hmm was it one of the levels that you have to drop food items on? In some levels if her strength isn't high enough she will not do certain actions. Can you remember the stage number?

I can't remember the number, but it was an early one. There was a swinging ball, and a basketball which you had to throw into a basket. You drop her a cake and she throws it.

Thinking about it, maybe I gave her the cake too far from the ball and she lost the benefit? I'll have to check it out.

Ah i know that level, yes the effects of the food wear off quickly you have to place them in the right place or they won't be effective. Not sure if thats the problem or crappy detection.

I have only found one level so far when she ignored an item for me it was the one with a radish on a cart that falls down in front of you, when i did the puzzle it fell right on top of her head & slid down she didn't register it as i think she has a detection area a bit in front of her.

Yeah I had that radish problem too, but I managed to get it to work the next time, just had to slow her down with a sweet so that she wasn't in the way!
