    Chime [XBLA]

This will be a brief first play thread since I've only spent half an hour or so with it, but I wanted to show some love seeing as it's been out for a few days now and no-one else seems to have chimed in (badum-tish).

Gameplay-wise it is nothing too original - there's some Tetris, a rather heavy dab-down of Lumines, and even a splash of JezzBall. In short, you have a grid and you place 5-tiled pieces onto it to fit into quads, which then get passed over by a moving line, granting you coverage of the area. Once they've been cleared off you can place new blocks on these areas, with the aim to cover as much of the grid as possible within a time limit. As with any puzzler, it sounds simple but it gets much more complex.

It's heavily music-related, with each grid having an accompanying song and the line also triggering various sound effects as it passes over certain shapes and sizes of blocks. It's got quite an impressive little list of artists in there too - I've only done 3 so far but they featured Philip Glass, Moby, and one of the lads from Orbital. I had a quick skip through the rest and thankfully it's not 'done a Lumines 2', and slipped the Black-freakin'-Eyed Peas in there.

If I've not sold you on it already, it's only 400msp and 60% of the cash goes to charity - it even gives you a 50g achievement just for buying it in recognition of this. As stated, I've not played it for long but even just 5 minutes with the demo convinced me of a purchase. Would recommend others take a look too as it's not often you see new titles going this cheap on XBLA, especially not with this level of quality.

Picked it up a few days ago solely based of the charity aspect and it is a pretty good game. It's simple in premise and would benefit from a few more stages but the ambient-come-club music creates a beautiful and chilled out atmosphere. It's definately worth 400 points, just don't expect it to last too long, especially with no multiplayer mode. An easy 165 gamerscore too, but that last 35 is crazy hard.

Finally bought a full copy today. Fancied a new light puzzle game and I didn't want the time sink Clash of Heroes would most likely be.

I've never enjoyed the lumines series but this is more acceptable to myself. Nice and pieceful.

I completed all the tracks on time mode and reached level 4 on the Orbital track in freemode before I had to head out.
The later block sets are too abstract for my tastes. I just don't find it fun or interesting to play with them. The Orbital set are a lot more regular and more enjoyable to play with. Hopefully you can play any of the tracks with that set. I'll have to check the next time I boot it up.

I have been rather addicted to this since I downloaded it.

At first glance it does seem a bit Tetris crossed with Lumines. Trying to fill a grid rather than clear it does give it a charm of its own though. Some of it seemed imposible to start with but having chipped away at it since release I gradually found myself developing better strategies and finally mastered the three-minute mode.

Possibly the best value per MSP for any arcade game I've bought.

Hats off Mr G, don't think I've even managed that on 9 minute mode yet!

Hats off indeed. Ultimate Champion achievement is no mean feat.

Wow, that's pretty amazing. I'm not too brilliant at this game, but I do love it. The music is excellent and it's a game I can quite happily chill to with the rest of the family in the room.

Ok, despite having a metric tonne of other games to play I've been playing this more than anything else. Very, very, addictive, very fun, and challenging to boot. This is shooting up to the top of the list of my favourite XBLA games, and to think it's only 400 points to boot, with the majority of that going to charity? Incredible.

More people need to try this out!

I had a go on the trial, and it just didn't grab me. I wanted to like it, and I was enjoying the music (Phil Hartnoll) it just didn't click.
