Thanks Saturn. I am looking forward to teaming up with friends and going online. Is it true that the more you complete the single player story, the more the online opens up?

Yeah. Quests open up on those field areas that connect towns. They unlock by you advancing the Story, and other quests are available to buy if you increase Guild Rank by completing quests.

Really enjoying this. The reviews seem fair. Story is predictable and it does seem a bit easy in single player.

What I like about it is the whole MMO style experience you get. I like working to build my character up, and this game carries enough depth in that department to keep me very interested. From the start I decided I would have my character learn the arts of the Spear. I have created several custom combos, each required for certain situations i.e A quick 3 hit melee combo or a strong melee combo with a elemental mix up included.

I've started to dabble in the online with a friend. However, as I am a much higher level than him, I'm going to slow down and wait until he buffs up a bit more, so I don't have to do all the work!

Anyone know how the online experience works in respect to the situation I've been in with my friend? For example, I (Lvl 20) kill a troll for 300XP, but my friend (Level 5) gets about 50XP.

        Is this to prevent "cheating"?

Good stuff so far. Reminds me of FFXI and FFXII.

I've been playing this a bit too this morning. An hour or two into it and I am really enjoying it.

Excellent game so far, the combat system is definitely MMO oriented but thats a positive for me. The fact there is no loading screen for the battles is another good point. I just need to get deeper into the story and see how it goes.

Then I'll see if I can find some people to go online with.

Another dissapointing release by Level 5. Really really don't like it, the combat is slow and dull and i play WoW.

At least FFXIII isn't too far around the corner.

Fair enough. It's defo not for everyone. I think the pacing may not be to everyone's tastes. Personally, I find the system enjoyable. Will it last me? Will I have my head turned by FFXIII? Time will tell. But for now, I'm happy pouring time into this.

This is really quite enjoyable. Just a few hours in so not opened up the online yet, but very impressed with what I have played.

God, the game does give the worst first impression ever. I felt like i should give it another proper go before i sell it but it finally clicked with me and i'm really enjoying it now. However, i really don't like the fact that your own character takes backstage and just stands there like a muppet in cutscenes, doesn't even have control of the fabled white knight either.

I'm enjoying the combat alot, the exploration & customisation.

Yeah, it is crap that your character is a haunting mute in the story. I always switch to my character on the field and then change to Leonard when I want to use the White Knight.

I'm loving the character building aspect. Unlocking the skills and then going online to flex with my friends. Nerdy stuff like, "look at the damage I can do with this weapon/combo".

I aim to some how deal damage like this guy (skip to near half way through vid)...

does the recreate character thingy refund your skill points? I spent too much on swords way early in the game as that was the only weapon i had available to me. :/

You mean from the Logic Stone menu? I think they may be just for re-customizing the look of your character. (You have to buy this option from the store!).

If I was you, I would master the sword fully, getting some magic on the way. If you put the time into getting to finish the main story i.e. beating the final boss of the game and if your character is level 50, you can find a guy in a quest that will give you the option to Rebirth.

Rebirthing will knock your character down to level 35, AND all the Skill Points you earned along the way. As a bonus, you will be given 40 Skill Points to spend. You can Rebirth up to 4 times.

Levelling from 35 to 50 again will be harder as the EXP needed from level 50 onwards will resume.

I imagine that's how the guy in the vid above got to be so hard.

If you want to farm Guild points, get your character to GR3 and do the quest Best Served Cold in the desert. Its instantly ready with 4 players as most players use this to farm. The quests comes down to 2 minutes of hacking (esp. with overpowered teammates) against a boss for some 5000 odd points.

That _should_ be the fastest way until GR7.

ya solo bsc til gr8, takes about 2 min per run then upgrade to bsc2 where you will need a minimum of 2 players to beat big red.

im currently racing thru ng+ to get some of the newer chest items then im gonna do the rebirth quest and go with great sword and be pure dd.

its easy to deal dammage like in that vid, he clearly rebirthed his character and put all the points that you get back onto passives and modifiers for the weapon he's using.

actually after watching this vid again its clear to see by the shield he's using that he's between gr 10-15

Thats what I initially did with my Avatar too. While I gave the Story characters fancy moves etc, I mostly gave him buffs like STR+ and VIT+ by learning Sword/Axe Master 1, 2 etc. My avatar is a spear user, with reasonably high HP and such because of this.

But I'm kind of sick of the spear. I think I'm going to invest in 2H swords.
