Heres a video to give you an idea of the stuff you'll be doing.....
Ever wanted to work in a convinience store? no me neither lol. but Taito wants to replicate all the joys of low paid menial labour & to be fair it's suprisingly fun (in virtual form). If you liked any of the cooking mama games then you'll roughly know what to expect, as the game was done by the same people.
Anyway the idea of the game is to help your grandfather as for some reason his convinience store isn't doing so hot, hmm could it be the fact that theres another literally 5 meters away from his & your grandfathers has sod all in it LOL. You take it upon yourself to help out in the store, starting at the bottom.
When you start, the store has very little stuff on the shelves, each portion of shelving is a minigame. The minigames are varied but they all have a common theme, in one you might have to remove all the out of date bread from the shelves then restock the same stuff back in the right order. Or you might need to refill the cigarette vending machine outside or you might have to serve a customer at the till. The games are easy to work out & the controls work pretty good.
Depending on how you did in the minigame, you will be ranked from bronze to gold just like the mama games. There are 3 difficulty levels to each minigame & once you gold one you will get access to the next level when you play again. After all 3 are unlocked you can select between the difficulty levels each time you play from then on. As you start doing well on the minigames you will get extra items delivered to your store which means more minigames, the shelves will slowly start to fill up. Theres a lot of stuff that will eventually get delivered. Also as you play you will notice that the items on the shelves will start to vanish, this is your cue to go play that minigame to restock that shelf, sometimes there will be a x2 - x5 bonus on a minigame, if you play that one & get a gold you will get a lot more customers.
The game gives you a total number of customers to get for each level of the game, you get customers by doing well on the minigames, think of them as a score. When the customer bar is full you will be either promoted up a rank or the convinience store will upgrade getting larger in size.
I have put many hours in & have reached over a million customers, when you get this many you are awarded a second floor for your store where you can order & choose what minigames you want on the shelves so you can customize it just how you want. Speaking of customization this game lets you change pretty much everything from the flooring & walls of the store to the music & uniforms your helpers wear. You can even design the logo outside, for those people who really want to give it their own personal touch.
Theres one bit left i haven't covered & thats the customer quests, all of the game is totally playable in japanese apart from this one small section. As you play customers will enter your store, most of them when you touch them will just have a musical note come out of them. However randomly you will get one that wants something, they will give you a clue in japanese & you have to click on the minigame that has the item in question. From what i can see this part of the game is for filling out a quest collection list which im guessing unlocks another trophy in the office but i dosen't seem to have an inpact on the main game.
So yeah im really liking this. It's weird, it's fun & suprisingly entertaining. Apart from Kryss i wonder if anyone else will take the plunge?
