Hyakumanton no Bara Bara/Patchwork Heroes PSP

JPN PSP Store 5th option down one that says PV, just look for 100 in there you should see it, also has a lovely custom theme and wallpaper too, 4th option down the one above PV, yet again listed as 100.

I heart this game already. Saw the crazy teaser site a while back, looked very unique and it doesn't disappoint. http://www.jp.playstation.com/scej/title/100mt/

To understand the game check the trailer out.

Still confused, well just imagine you are playing Qix/Qixx++ but with a team of locals trying to defend their homes from evil motherships. It's a tough job but someones has to do it, although if they die, a little portrait flashes up and shows their name and age
Your main objective when you land on the ship is to rescue trapped prisoners who join your squad and cut the ship into pieces with your saw, the bigger you cut the more you slow it down from getting to your village, so you get extra time added to your timer. You don't just have a saw your team can use bombs, once you do you lose that team member. I have only destroyed 2 ships so don't know how many more are on the demo, so i'm going back to it now.

Best thing is that US and EURO versions have already been announced under the name of Patchwork Heroes http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2010/...chwork-heroes/
Out Feb 18th in JPN , sure that's UMD and PSN same day. I am very tempted.

Hyakumanton no Bara Bara first impressions

This is Hyakumanton no Bara Bara, a title released in Japan for the PSP last week. I've been engrossed in it since I got it earlier this week and I must underline how important it is for you to know more about this title. It's original and classic at the same time; exquisite and out of the ordinary. It's gameplay is compelling, and its difficulty curve is so perfect it could have been drawn by Giotto himself.

I've made a long introduction to the game with a ton of screens. Be sure to check it out @ Eastern Mind, the regular meeting place for weird Japanese games.

Twice now!!! grrrrrrrrrrr and always posting links to your site, admittedly you have good taste and a good site.
I started a first play in January from the demo, even posted a youtube video of it no one cared
It has not been searched for.

Yes, that's pretty much it Family Fry. But with later levels there are exceptions like places you can't cut through, solo missions where you can't be hurt, new items and enemies. I don't wish to spoil so I only covered the three first levels and a few cutscenes so people could get the general idea.

I'm completely surrendered to the game. It's one of the best games I've ever played in its genre, so fresh and entertaining. Even when it becomes very hard and you start losing crew members, it's still wonderful.

I made the article in order to present the game to people, show how it works and help those who're having second thoughts about importing the game - I've translated the options from the menu. It's well worth the import.

Also, here's the cover for the soundtrack being released next month. More than just the EXCEPTIONAL visuals, the game has some great themes composed by Hideki Sakamoto from Noisycroak. He is one of the top composers in Japan at the moment and he's very respected for that. I love the cover art for this CD, btw.

If you can't import, pre-order the EU version right now.

Oh... you're the one who started the Majin the fallen realm thread here at the forum, right? I tried to find the thread here but it failed to present me any results so I started a new one. Very sorry Family Fry. I post links to my website because I couldn't post such lengthy articles here anyway. It's not like I advertise everything I do, just whenever I think that the articles are of any value to NTSC forum users in general.

Yes we seem to be on the same boat games-wise.

Rumour had it that it wasn't getting a UMD release in europe or NA, PSN download only.
Really would like to import (ntsc-uk after all) but I also like to support localisations if announced, if you show the support future titles may come out also, I personally would like a UMD/Box/Manual for a game like this, especially with the art style. I do still urge people to try the PSP demo if they can it's a lovely wee title and the music is indeed fantastic.
Oh and I'm not getting at you or your site as it's all cool, you have posted some very interesting unique Japanes games in other threads too that haven't received attention, it's always good for an import centric forum/site to have those opinions, s'all good

Where can I buy this? Can't find it at all on yesasia and play-asia won't ship it here.

Also, can anyone confirm whether this is getting an EU UMD release? Cheers. Looks awesome.

It is on yesasia lol :P

Been playing a bit of the demo, and still wondering whether to buy it off the HK PSN or to wait for the localisation.

More news on this wonderful little game.

                        A newer trailer.
A bunch of new PS3/PSP themes.
And the translation of a dozen comic strips published by Sony in Japanese only (translation was done by NTSC forum user Noobish Hat!).

                        May you enjoy them.

My gal played the demo of this last night. Had a few glances whilst she did so and it looks absolutely wondrous. The art-style is just sublime, and actually pretty close to how I'd like to end up rendering stuff. I hadn't drawn in far too long a time, but this totally inspired me to whip out the ol' sketchbook.

Anyone know if a soundtrack release is planned? Couldn't say which part of the demo it was, but the frantic sounding brass music had the catchiest melody!

Man, I've never been so stupidly excited about a game I don't even have the console for. Even went on the JP PSN downloading every last PS3 wallpaper and theme. Nuts.

Yes, this month in Japan only. If I get it, I'll probably upload it. More info here.
