FIFA World Cup 2010 DEMO [every format under the sun: part deux]

Well, you will be hard pressed to find out too many differences between this and FIFA 10, barring a different colour palette they're using.
It retains similar asthetics from that of Euro 2008 in that it uses the official television overlays, and has similar camera cut-aways to fans/ managers/ players like in Euro 2008.

Now for the main bug-bears that they emphasized on fixing, mainly the rushing of keepers and chesting of the ball, instead of the player making the decision of clearing the ball first time with head or feet. Or just a first time pass.

I've had a few clear 1v1 situations against the keeper with my striker being open around 30-40 yards to goal, and they've seemed to have sorted the goalie rush (so far) but for the chesting quirk, I don't know about that.
It seems pretty 50-50 as i've seen defenders still chest it in the penalty box instead of lunging at it. I'll probably have to play a few more games to get a definitive verdict on it.

    As for a purchase?
Hard to say. I would get it, but the underlying feel is, is that it's not much of a change from FIFA 10

Not that i hear. Just a generic crowd noise.
Forgot to mention. The demo lets you control either Italy or Spain.

I presume the beloved vuvuzela would play more of a prominance when the African teams take to the pitch.

first loading screen splash has those bloody plastic trumpets playing !

had a couple of quick games and the differences aren't immediately obvious to me, it may be subtle though and take a while to spot them.

very nice and smooth, didn't feel broken but not a huge leap forward either.

How are the lobs? Hard to score? I'm guessing as the goalies don't rush out as much they will be fine.

So the goalie rush mechanic, hold Triangle/Y to make him rush out or is it same controls as FIFA10 i.e double tap Triangel/Y to stop him from rushing?

Will download the PS3 version once the store is updated later.

I didn't get into a lob situation, haven't had the ball break loose from a midfield scrum yet either and end up 1:1 with the keeper, which could well be tighter AI all round or just a fluke.

My mate has been on this a while now and he loves it. So many small niggles sorted. It is the only game he plays full stop.

Perhaps but I'd much prefer an auto update or paid for World Cup add-on content then have to purchase the same game all over again. For me This remains the biggest issue with this and any other one off event game. Considering the large number of FIFA 10 owners I reckon EA would have sold a lot of add-on packs if they had taken this approach.

Oh for sure it would be nice to have it like that but we have always had world cup games since 1986 world cup carnival!

                    I will be buying it.

I play FIFA10 a lot now. With my mates we have a gentleman's agreement not to attempt lobs. FIFA10 is meant to last us until October 2010. EA have recognised the problem, why not sort it out with a patch?

I look forward to this. Currently on 50%...

T'is very good, FIFA 10 with certain gameplay elements tweaked. The lob/goalkeepers rushing out issue has been sorted and in general the gameplay feels more fluid, flows nicely. Definite purchase for me.

Things like this though why I hate Game and EA.

360 analogue dribbling is not a first as they like you to belive. ISS 64 had it way back in 1996-7.

it is very fluid and plays a great game, still can't resolve it being £40 though, feels like the street fighter argument all over again to me.

I'd gladly pay 1600MS points for this without a thought, seeing as thats not an option think it will need a supermarket price war to tempt me.

I'm liking the presentation and visuals of this. This is very much like a PES game, but then with FIFA animations. Its colorful and faces are recognizable this time around. On the whole its much more atmospheric than FIFA 10.

They also ditched the crappy menu that plagued FIFA since 07.

I'd say its quite a bit better than FIFA 10, but a rip off regardless. Might end up buying it when infected with the World Cup virus.
