      Special promo going down for Japan, a random selection of 500 people who play the trial will get 200 MS Points. Likewise, another 500 who play the full game will get 800 points (read: free game).

      Auto Lock-On/Missile Recovery & No Damage boost the kills needed for possibly the last EX option many will need.

      Also, chievos are glitchy for some. They all work fine, but will only show up as 185/200 in game list.

        This was an easy 100% trophy score. Although I figure it would be hard to do if EX-Options were incompatible. I had a hard time getting a 50 combo and completing all secondaries without EX tweaks. With auto gun, big cursor, special stage unlock its easy to get it all.

        This game also shows that Sega should really handle this in-house. With all due respect, Outrun Online is broken compared to this.

        I also love the fact this game kept the attract mode and everything in, a lot of games seem to rip that out (again, Outrun and also MvC2).

          That was always a big complaint about Outrun Online Arcade though - it was the barest minimum they could have given us

            The presentation is what suffers most in these ports unfortunately.

            I remember once upon a time (when I used to read reviews) when games were partly rated on presentation.

            I've not had much chance to play this tonight. Was on MSN with the mrs for ages and then offered to spot for my friend at the gym. Gay.

              Just to add... so many games thesedays suffer from ****ty menus and options screens, containing crap fonts with no effort or flair put into the design whatsoever. It makes me angry when I could be doing that job.

              Notice in the end credits for ABC, they even mention that the typeface was created from scratch by some company. Class.

                  most Japanese game companies use fonts from either Dynafont or Err....Can't remember the name now but I noticed AfterBurner Climax's were from one if these companies.

                    Only put a couple of hours in so far but I am unbelievably **** at this.

                    Record so far is clearing stage 5 on a single credit but what's bothering me is my incredibly poor shot down percentage. Regularly getting over 80% on Stage 1 but then hovering between 50-60% for the remaining stages. Is the rate that the Climax bar recharges fixed or does it fill up quicker based on your actions?

                    An amazing game though.

                      Increase speed and it will fill faster. So there is some depth to it, as going full speed is more risky as well.

                      Always go full speed during the score summaries, as you won't engage enemies during that time.

                        I didn't move onto stage two until I could get 100% on stage 1 each time.

                        I recommend you practice each stage on stage select, starting from stage 5 (or where ever you're up to) and working backwards. I played lke this on Gradius V and it's what made the game for me. I'll be doing the same for this.

                            Training will only let you play on areas you've seen on arcade mode.

                            Climax gauge fills up when you kill an enemy. Obviously the longer you use climax mode, the longer it will take to fill up so use and abuse it in tiny bursts.

                              I see. Cheers for the info Silvergun X - so by that token I should be able to train up on most of the game now then and should be a good indication of which areas I've not yet discovered.
